Surely here is an electrical engineer on mybroadband, why don't we build out own, improved version of the ratel, with double the batteries (at 80 bucks a cell it's not expensive).
If you are an electrical engineer, pm me maybe I can buy the schematics off you and then I'll do the rest (source, build, design the body, manufacture the pcbs etc)
absolutely crazy what people will spend on the same parts sold by communica wrapped in a nice plastic box
but i hope it works for everyone, working from home needs reliable internet
I bought a 430M and disassembled it. I see the cells they use are 0817's so I'm adding another bank of them. I take back what I said; they're more than just a few off the shelf parts. Very good value for money, and easy battery change without a warranty sticker being voided.
I'm thinking 2 more banks of four cells each since cells are like R79 + enclosure R30

And there's also the Ratel 430 models, which look like they would work too! This says the 860P is succeeded by the 8100: https://sinetechstore.co.za/ratel-860p-succeeded-by-ratel-8100/
Should I rather be going for the 8100?

Okay! And the 430M? I only need to power the router and ONT for 2.5 hours at a time.NO!
The 8100 has a maximum output of 100W, but it has 8x 1800mAh batteries.
Where as the 860P has a maximum output of 60W, but has 8x 2200mAh batteries. So if you are just powering your routers it will keep them powered for longer.
Furthermore the 860P does has POE.
Thank you sir, I also see geewiz has one for about R470 something.. anyone have experience with them?GeewizDeal
4x2200mAh batteriesOkay! And the 430M? I only need to power the router and ONT for 2.5 hours at a time.
I see the 860p is not much more than what I can find the 430M for.4x2200mAh batteries
4x 12V outputs
1x 9v/12v switchable output
1x 5V output
1x USB
30W max output
Have you contacted Geewiz?I see the 860p is not much more than what I can find the 430M for.
Now I can't find an extra cable!
Couldn't get through via phone. I have sent an email.Have you contacted Geewiz?
I think the 860P is excellent value for money.
