Router Battery Backup

Anyone got this UPS? R485 seems like a really good deal. @Yuu

UltraLAN Micro UPS (DC, USB & PoE) - 17W 8.8AH

I do. Powers metrofibre nokia ONT and edgerouterx. Didn't have enough juice to power the AX3, but I haven't tried disabling 5ghz. It just doesn't switch on at all. I just got a killawatt meter so will measure AX3 over the weekend. I thought moving edgerouterX to POE it would help but still the same.

I bought one of the Ellies Mini cube units, its connected to the mains and powers a nokia ont and a tp link router.
I find that it doesnt last during stage 2 loadshedding and dies despite having adequate time to recharge.
Is my unit faulty? What would be a good replacement?

IIRC that Ellies is around 100Wh? Those two devices together shouldn't use more than 20W, meaning the cube should keep running for 4 hours. If it's tapping out before that something is most likely wrong.

Something definitely wrong, mine has coped with occasional 4 hour outages in the past with ease. Mine also just connected to the ONT & router.

It should defintely last the 4 hours. I have more redundancy as I use a seperate mini UPS for ONT, router and second router that I use. One of these is a Mini Cube. That way the battery does not get used up too much. Still the MC should handle two devices for loadshedding Stage 2.

Thanks
I bought it from PnP in Dec. -R1299
They swapped it out for a new one today - now selling at R1599

Because I trust you guys so much, I thought I'd ask a question here.
I bought this Vizia UPS for fibre.

But in my wisdom , I see the router and ONT are both 1.5amp at 12V.
The UPS is max 24W and if I understand correctly, I need 36W.
Correct?

I'm thinking of returning it, are there any other recommendations?

Do not stress. Remember that the router/ont will probably never draw 12V1.5A, especially not the ont. The Vizia will run it without a hitch, unless the router is like some monster/beast of a router.

Stay faar away from Geewiz, their returns department is a nightmare. Had to send a router back for a refund and they couldn't even communicate or arrange a pickup had to drive there drop it off and still wait for them to decide to email me to prove that I dropped it at them. They dropping them balls baby, Use to love them but wish no good

Those things never really pull the maximum power they're rated for. Just think about it - a router + ONT pulling over 15 to 20 Watts!? Really? Just to route some signals? Highly unlikely for home devices.

I have the Guzzu, which is probably a distant twin brother of yours
It runs fine with a Hauwei ONT, an Ubiquity Edge Router X and an AC lite. It works fine.
