Router Battery Backup

Enough of this crap. This time getting a Ratel-8100.

However my ASUS router RT-AC68U (19V) has a DC plug of 4 mm x 1.7mm?

Ratel lists the 19V output as a 5mm connector. So I will need a 5mm to 4mm cable adapter?

Is it 5mm or 5.5mm?

Can't seem to find one though

May be easier to cut off the end of your current plug and transplanting it to the end of the standard ratel cable. Make sure you use a multimeter to align the polarity

On mine it was 4mmx1.35mm which I got from a hobbyist shop. Other options is to snip and connect / order from amazon.

Same internals as the Ratel 8100.

I looked at that one previously. Far less than the 8100 for R1600 from Communica (only ones who seem to have stock).

I ordered this one.

From what I remember, Cube Mini has a ridiculously low output current.

Get the Gizzu.

and how long does it last ?
Depends on what you're trying to power.

Also, if you're saying you need to power more than one device (router+ONT), it might not be up to the task due to the low output current I mentioned before.

Check how many Amps your devices draw (output current which is written on the power adapter).

Then check how long you can power those devices relative to the battery size in the UPS using this calculator: https://www.digikey.com/en/resources/conversion-calculators/conversion-calculator-battery-life

For example:

I have a 12V 1A router and 12V 0.5A ONT. Total consumption is 1.5A at 12V. If I pick a device with a 8800mAh battery, it will take 5 hours 52 minutes before it dies:

Luckily, these devices rarely pull all the amps budgeted for on their stickers. Kill all the extra services and extra features of the router and you might get even more runtime.

True. But I'd rather account for what's actually written on the power supply than what the device "might" (or might not) be pulling.
