Router Battery Backup

Had it plugged in over night, still don't want to switch on....

They probably will but the existing batteries will no doubt just need to be charged, I highly doubt they will need to be replaced, 18650 cells are ridiculously robust.

Doesn't look like it is easy to just replace the batteries.

It’s just shrink wrap around the 18650 cells, the guy thinks there is a bms under the shrink wrap but in this kind of device they would normally have the bms on the main board.

I would unplug the battery off the board and try charge the whole pack and see if that will wake the device up. It’s probably running a 4P battery, 4 x 4.2v 18650 batteries in parallel, so the pack fully charged will output 4.2v

He is correct there is a BMS under that shrink-wrap. You can clearly see there are no BMS components on the main board :). Most of these ups's uses a 4s pack I found that it works better and last longer than a 3s pack.

I made a mistake in my original post which I have corrected, wouldn’t it be 4P not 4S?
 
Hey smart people.

So wife is starting a new job on Wednesday.

As per her previous job, she will also work from home.
At previous job she could take a quick 5min drive to physical offices during loadshedding. But new job's office location does not make that a viable option anymore.

So I need to keep her Internet access up and running 24/7 now.

Really like the look of the Netogy or big Ratel units because it allows for laptop charging if really needed. But new laptops she got from new job would most likely never need it. And laptops get replaced every 2 years.

Otherwise the standard Gizzu units are nice just for Router and ONT.

Now I was hoping to get something that will also power our Reolink NVR (48v)so that we can keep CCTV up and running during loadshedding as well.

Is there a compact solution like Netogy or Ratel available to run the following for up to 4 hours max.

ONT - 12 2A
Router - 9v 1A
CCTV NVR - 48v 2A
Laptop optional.

Or will I be forced to go for the inverter +battery trolley route?

Would something like this not work?

 
Use the wifi ups just to run the Router and ONT . Then get something more powerful to power the NVR and Laptop one with a 3 point plug so you can plug a multiplug on it to power the laptop and NVR the 48v draw of the NVR is too much for that unit as well as the 19v draw of the laptop charger.

One way to do 48v is to use a Active->Passive POE + DC Splitter on a 48v POE capable UPS
Or you'd have to do the 220v -> 48v route

Would something like this not work?
You might be surprised at the wattage the cameras are drawing though unless they have their own power supplies
48v 2amp is almost 100watts,so to do a 2.5hour loadshed you'd need about 250wh
 
Thanks guys. Checked a few stores yesterday in Menlyn and nobody had any stock of anything.

So, I decided to get the Netogy UPS 100 from Webafrica for R999.
It is almost double the size of the small 8800mAh Gizzu units and also offers 19v.

If my e-filing is correct I will be getting a nice windfall from SARS and I will invest in a bigger unit with Solar input for the CCTV, some lights and TV for the kids.

But I'll go get advice in the correct thread when that time comes around.
