It's just making me want the damn thing more and more and I have to wait until July at least
Does any one know what processor South Africa will be getting? Exynos 4210 or the Tegra 2? And will we be getting the super amoled screen? I am going to have a hard time waiting for this beast to land in SA.
I just hope we dont get a watered down version, afterall we are paying over R6000 for the phone.

After reading the 12 pages the wait is even worse. Handic better ship this coming Monday or I will lay a complaint with AWB or the anc youth league

According to their ad the s2 from Handic have with the Exynos 4210 chipset and the super amoled screen. Surely SA will get the same with the official launch

the s2 is still not on vodacom's "arriving soon" list. vodacom informed me that it will take from 3 to 7 weeks of testing after they receive the phone before it will be available on contract.

I must have this phone in my hands.... I'm not being productive in life otherwise
just a little longer. it's totally worth waiting for a south africa release. the peace of mind from the warantee is something you want!

WTF do they need to test it for? That's absolute BS.
I tend to agree with this along with the fact that the i9000 sold on a R279 (no pay in) contract which gave you R115 worth of airtime.
So over 24 months thats R6696 - R2760 = R3936 amirite?

MTN Better be quick to offer this on contract. Upgrade is due in July, and I can't even wait for that date, never mind any longer!

"Please be advised there is no present estimated time of arrival on the Samsung Galaxy S2. If the handset is brought into Vodacom it will first undergo a testing phase which may take 3 to 7 weeks before the handset is launched on the network. Only once the handset is launched at Vodacom will the prices and packages be available. Please note there is no option to order the handset at present."
i have also heard from other vodacom employees that handsets need to be tested in order to guarantee their compatibility with the network as vodacom supplies technical support to the handsets.

Why looking for another site?
RyanZA/Neuro please let us know if you chaps have tested out the GPS, battery life and eBook reader app the SGS2 comes installed with, no pressure
GPS is awesome, gets a lock quickly and doesn't drop it. Tracks done with MyTracks have been perfect for the few I tested (suburbs in jhb though, no high buildings blocking the view).
Battery is very good for an Android device - I have full push syncing enabled, as well as Whatsapp, and I generally sit at around 60-70% battery remaining after a day's work (~10h I guess?). Anyway it's very very hard to judge battery because it depends entirely on what you use to the phone to do. My SGS1 is still sitting on the 74% power level for an entire week now after removing the sim card and turning off wifi, for example. Having the screen turned on permanently obviously drops the battery life to 6 hours or so. But basically, the battery life is definitely improved over the SGS1 for the same tasks.
There are battery problems for some people though, if you check XDA, but those might be faulty batteries or just about anything else. Could also be software bugs. At any rate, it's stuff you hear from all devices.
There is one enormous downside to the SGS2 though: since the browser is so fast and works so well, you WILL be using it FAR more often that a previous gen cellphone such as the SGS1 or Desire. I don't think this is possible to avoid.
In turn, you end up with much higher data usage - likely double what you're used to - which can be costly. So basically:

Unlocked bootloader makes for easy modding
GPS works well
The bad:
Gotta buy it from the UK or wait forever
Will increase your data usage
Tegrazone games don't work on the Mali GPU
