There goes the 99% uptime... pathetic... the cables surely cant be faulty already... it was laid into the seabed only last year... reeks like a BBBEE deal...
ITS BACKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geez this is why I hate being in this industry sometimes.. People just moan about everything the WHOLE time. You people need a hit across the back of the head with the reality cane.
Just a few years ago we only had 56k and look how far we've got. There is bound to be hiccups in a great advancement in broadband. Stop being so ungrateful. This will pass and everything will be fixed soon enough. If people would just stop their whining for one second and realize that things like this happen it would be a lot better for everyone. Sure, some people run their businesses online, but you just have to understand that even them will have downtime at some stage. Geez man.
4 days of downtime? does that sound normal to you?
If ALL POSSIBLE CONNECTIVITY was down, I would agree with you, but Pixual has a valid complaint. There are ISPs who have redundancy in place. Some MWeb and WA customer seem to be enjoying international connectivity at the moment. Why should you pay for something you are not receiving? I recall a few months ago my US host had downtime for a mere 3 hours and gave all it's affected customers that month of hosting for free. This is the kinds of service level I expect and anything less in simply unacceptable.
Considering the technicalities and conditions and scale of the cable, yes..
Besides, if you have been down for 4 days, surely you would have made some sort of backup plan? I haven't been down for one day. There must be some other source of connectivity nearby? A friend, internet cafe etc? It's really not that bad. We have had major clients on Diginet, ADSL and Fibre go down but they haven't been moaning at us all day.
I'd been thinking of topping up my Afrihost. Luckily I haven't.
