Do you want/need an APN that allows connections initiated from outside the APN?

I'll do the usual chasing up....

Great - thanks!

I find it really strange that this request has taken so long?

With the release of the Linksys router - surely Vodacom anticipated this sort of request?

I have several businesses enquiring about the router, but until such an APN exists -its pointless!

BTW - what would be involved in purchasing and setting up ones own APN?

Getting a good product idea and even getting it approved is one thing, getting it rolled into production.....

I don't have the exact pricing on the private APN's. PM me with a mail addr. and I'll put you in contact with the correct sales guys.

waiting in anticipation.........V3G

u guys at vodacom know how to do this?
DO U NEED HELP?

Incoming traffic is blocked for security reasons

Hi there,

Incoming traffic has been BLOCKED on Both Public APNs (Internet & as well as the Internetvpn) for security measures and if one is interested in getting an APN that isn't blocked, then I suggest one should go for the Corporate APN solution.

Cheers

masetisi, to accomodate users for whom a corporate APN is an overkill, we're releasing an "Unrestricted" APN that will have no port blocking on the incoming side.

It will, by definition, not be secure, so if you have a lot of users you'd like to interconnect, a corporate APN is a better solution.

But for the guy (or gal) who wants to access his box at home every now and then, this will be a good solution.

It's hopefully very close now.

Dare I say "imminent" ?

erm... like yesterday!

PS: thanks for your efforts dude!

No more lowid?

No answer yet?

 I'm busy with an installation in the middle of nowhere and I need to do remote support. v3g don't you know if this is already available?

If you're tired of waiting, just use MTN. Publicly routable IP's that accept incoming traffic have been available on MTN's network for some months now. All you have to do if you want to connect to a remote IP on MTN GPRS is specify the correct APN name in the connection string and you can only connect to a remote device from another MTN GPRS/EDGE/3G connection (which is fine by me as it minimises the wasted incoming traffic to a remote device). Well worth the switch as it just seems to work, whereas, we struggled for months with Vodacom's unreliable GPRS service. To test the MTN option you can get a prepaid sim card and simply convert some of the airtime to a data bundle to get the data rate - their prepaid sims are all data enabled out of the box!

When???

When will this be available... otherwise I will need to give back my 3G router and get MTN as this is one of the reasons why I bought this and it was not said to me beforehand (neither is it document anywhere in the docs that I received - unless I didn't read that part)!

Vodacom3g - any news yet?

ok, where do i sign the petition to get this released as a product?

clients are grumbling about moving to adsl...

Does anyone know if this is ever gonna happen ???????????????????????????????????????????? Or else i have to make another plan.

Easier to buy a car?

 I'm already making another plan and it sucks. It seems to be easier to spend R200k on buying a car than to get this apn from Vodacom... maybe I should just buy a car and drive the data to the client:D

Hey Grubsner

It doesn`t meen that when it is routable that it is advertise externally.
When you connect what ip do you get?
