Search for "unrestricted apn application form" with google and you will get the links to the forms for which ever provider you use.

I hope there is still someone out there on this thread....

Apparently my 3g vodacom modem is doing something called a double nat and What looks like a wan is not a wan.

After days of trying t setup dynamic dns, portforwarding, a static ip on the pc and checking the settings a million times over, hiring an it company etc, we couldn't figure why i couldnt get remote access and take to the pc's.

My public ip generated by my Dynamic DNS and updates on dynamic noip.com service but differed to my actual public IP - checked with portchecktool

Calling vodacom customer support would be like committing suicide.

Is there a way around this that wont cost an arm and leg, im already paying crazy vodacom data rates.
I have 20 3g modems that move almost daily from site to site and need access to them all.

please help!!
Stu!

Once activated you need to change your APN from "internet" to "unrestricted"

Thank you so much for the reply, i really appreciate it!

Is it hat simple biometrics? no hidden extra costs for each 3g line? I read through some of these post and I'm not sure what the current costing is for unrestricted or if there is a easier solution.

It takes a day to setup.

No extra cost.

Done it many times.

Keep in mind that NAT does offer you some protection from the nasties on the internet, so you should have some kind of firewall enabled.

I always emailed them and it gets done in a day. Never phoned anyone.

Guys, Thanks for the help. testing it on one of sim cards and routers with unrestricted.

Noticed now the device disconnects from the internet after some time.
The industrial 3g router needs on/off or reboot to reconnect.
I have been able to determine how long it connects for, its always disconnected within 12 hours.
The same routers and settings we use across 20 other machines without unrestricted and work perfectly next to it.
Only thing different is the apn and pass were changed according the unrestricted instructions.

Any ideas?

Hi can anyone help me i have the unrestricted apn for vodacoma on my phone so i can connect to a vpn but im still unable to

Hello All,

Hoping for some help, we've sent the application to Vodacom for an unrestricted APN, when we set the APN to unrestricted, we get an IP in the range 100.84.225.... which to me is a private address range, does this mean the APN has not been setup on Vodacom's side?

Likely yes, although it could still be a proxying setup.

All the unrestricted SIMs I work with, usually have publicly accessible IP address ranges, so my feeling here is that it hasn't been done or hasn't been done properly.

Are you sure it is 100.84.225 and not 10.84.225?

100.84.225.X is a reserved IANA range and not meant to be used according to the whois comment.

Hi guys, thank you both very much for your replies, I am trying to get hold of Vodacom. Here is the details on the IP I'm getting. Its happening on both sims I've asked for an open APN on when setting the APN to unrestricted. Today it has changed slightly as you will see, and is now on 100.81....

From the screenshot you really were assigned a 100.X.X.X IP address. Looks like someone at Vodacom made a typing error. As I mentioned earlier this is a reserved IP address and is not routable from the Internet.

Call Vodacom Customer Care or send a PM to VodacomData.
