Weight Loss Thread 2014

Wow, thanks guys for the awesome recommendations.

So I understand checking labels for carbs & kJ, but meat? This is probably a stupid question, but meat don't have labels. How now brown cow?

Just eat until you are satisfied

I've been gaining weight and don't feel motivated to lose it at all :(
I'm so lazy and just want sweets all the time

Noooooooo googoo come back to us!

I know how you feel, my scale refuses to move down then I feel like diving stright into a bag of stoopwaffels and to never come out.

Dont loose heart, onward and upward...or in our case downward!!!

Come on.... get back on that horse. We all fall off, but you just have to keep getting back on.

My advice is to read The Real Meal Revolution, Wheat Belly, and The New Atkin's New You.

Best thing I ever did for myself.

Ive been on the Banting diet for just over a month and lost 10kgs. Feeling great. Also done a lot of reading on cholesterol and that it does not cause heart disease. Also the big con of statins.

Still my cholesterol is now 8.5 and I am worried. Went and saw my GP and he says bomb Tims diet its BS. My GP is 50 and probably hasent ready a medical journal in 20 years. Still I need to get some answers here!

You're looking for a kick in the ass huh? :p
C'mon you got this. You did fantastic last year. Just need to find that motivation again.

Yeah I need a kick in the ass :p
I've even been drinking wine... Even when I'm by myself... Even straight from the bottle :erm:

I need some help with keto...
I did one of the online calculators, and based on 30g carbs, with moderate exercise - I should be eating 125g protein and 196g fat
At the moment I am battling to even get to 2000 cals with ± 130g fat. I posted a sample of my intake from Wednesday, a day I ate quite a bit of steak, bacon, eggs, etc. Yesterday was worse, because I ate a lot of chicken and salad.

How do you guys up your fat intake? I don't want to be eating too little fat, that my body starts burning proteins, especially now that I am going to start doing some weight training.
I have heard guys spreading butter on cheese and stuff, is this a valid way of getting enough fats in?
Any other options?

<<EDIT>>
I have ordered some Keto sticks to try help me keep an eye on things.

Right, 31 days of Banting. Lost 6kgs and 7cm around my waist. Longest I've ever been on any real dietary/lifestyle change. Still a long way to go, but I've finally found something that's sustainable. I feel great, I look better and the willpower to continue is there. I happily forego the cake/chocolate that finds it's way into my house - I have a 2 year old, she loves to 'bake' with mommy!

I also found yesterday - using one of the carb counter apps - that my macros are still a bit carb heavy, so if I adjust that some more, I should see even more losses.

Why not just try adding butter and cream? Fry your bacon in a tablespoon full of butter and your eggs in that afterwards. Or scramble your eggs and add a tablespoon or 2 of cream as opposed to milk. Cream in coffee is also easy win and don't forget cheese. I have cheese with just about every meal - gouda with my eggs, cream cheese or feta with salad at lunch and some cheese again with supper.

Oh, and almonds!!! Eat as many as you like!

Already use butter for frying eggs, bacon, etc. I'll definitely start using cream, and adding more cheese never hurt :)
Thanks

77 KG today.

I think it's time I stopped worrying about my scale weight, and started concerning myself with how I look.

My boep is essentially gone now, next step is adding some muscle.

With the magnesium supplement + more salt than I would normally eat, the fatigue is definitely getting better. I still had a bit of a dip yesterday, but I think I just need to make sure I am eating enough, and to take in some sodium when I feel a drop coming.

All in all, it's going well.

19.8kg's in 4 weeks ....... :wtf:

I am literally blown away. And I haven't even been that strict (doing about 40g carbs a day) except with working out. I am going to have a damn cake on Sunday to celebrate!
