Why intel sux so badly.

What does AMD have lined up to pwn intel with? since intel always copies them...

So what you are saying is intel stole stuff from amd and made better cpu's, why could amd not use the stuff they had to make the better cpu's? So it is better intel stole the stuff so we could have such good cpu's as opposed to letting amd do F all with it?

Ok i see now. Good point i guess.

Aqua_lung, last paragraph of my story is about the future being fusion. Read that - its gonna be a tough one for intel to copy

killadoob, AMD uses all its RND resources for create all the wonderful new innovations. Intel uses its RND to steal and then performance tune all the wonderful new innovations. Keep in mind that AMD has a much smaller RND team.

Intel have only started using an integrated memory controller, 3 years after amd started using it yet they have done more with the technology in one year than amd did in 3 years.

Keep stealing intel, we want to move forward.

The reason I used the world "kill" is because they did not play open cards with the other stake holders in the x86 arena. Sure, HP were in bed with them for IA-64, but the smug statement they made about the competition closing their doors really was not the smartest thing to do.

Intel should realize what they sux at and then partner with the right companies and develop a new platform. That is, if they want to do something right for change....

lol yeah they really must suck with 80% of the market share, they definately are doing something wrong

make a good product and people will buy it

I see a lot of you are comparing the latest intels against the latest AMDs and thereby trying to justify that intel does not sux.

It is a fact that the new intels perform better than AMD. You cannot argue with those facts.

There it another type of fact that you can also not argue against and that is facts of history. My whole post'n'half is entirely based on happenings in the past. It aims to educate the uneducated about intels history and highlight the amount of failures and shady practices they pursue. I did not even mention the EU antitrust law suit against them - there is so much more I can add if I wanted to.

So to summaries...
Fact : intel is king of x86 performance at the moment.
Fact : intel has a history clouded in failure and unethical behavouir.

If only performance matters to you - buy intel. If care about ethics and fair trade, read up on the history of things.
Should anyone want to comment/add/correct any of the historical statements cover in my story on why intel suxs, please feel free. But leave the benchmarks out of this because we all know currently is performs the best.

P.S. thanks for the signature typo you guys picked up

Ethics? Is ethics gonna help a person to get the most out a CPU regarding O/C,speed etc. etc?I don't think so.Imagine walking walking into a shop asking the sales person for an Ethics CPU.He will think that you are as high as a kite. It's like the people said: price VS performance.

it wasnt necassary for them to integrate a memory controller earlier

their processors without the integrated controller were still competing just fine

Hahahahaha

Hi mr incredible connection person, i am looking for ethical cpu's and memory.

Mr incredible: Sorry there is not one ethical computer company on the planet mate or calls the cops because he reckons you are high :D.

So you dont support [or use products from] Eskom/Telkom/Sasko/Tiger Brands/Pick 'n Pay/Checkers and the list can go on!?

or are you very selective in which companies ethics/history is important to you?

The exact point I made a few pages ago :)

I have heard about fusion for along time now, maybe intel should steal that like the integrated memory controller so we can see some results soon :D.

and while AMD is being put on a pedestal...

Roux, please comment on this:

An article appears today on Bright Side of the News (BSN), which suggests AMD is guilty of the very things they accused Intel of — namely, of attempting to stifle competition and product development by exerting their influence onto various companies.

The author, Theo Valich, has been able to draw together several off-the-record sources who, under conditions of anonymity, paint a picture of AMD’s desire to only allow controlled competition for its GPU cards by OEMs.

here

At the end of the day competition is good, AMD keeps intel on it's toes and visa versa, AMD now competes with Nvidia and Intel. AMD can't be trusted just like Nvidia and Intel can't be trusted, it's about profit and survivability.

Clarkdale.. and it will be out before fusion becomes reality

Useful Info

Well to get some useful info out of this thread would one of the resident experts here please post a list of CURRENT best bang CPU's

AMD & Intel

Thanks

MW

Well according to the graph i saw best price/performance is the PhII 955BE but then again whose to say the person doing that test wasn't just being biased.

IMHO I don't trust those bloggers that do benchmarking because they could just be punting their favourite.

End of the day its down to preference...
