We have a volunteer mountain rescue chap as part of our crew.... He'd be able to find you if you fell and broke your leg etc... can also advise on wugkit installations too!

Let us know if u need him! :D

I think i've done that a couple of times, so I must be a real wugger!

I have often donated a grid here, a yagi there, a linksys here to get someone hooked up! :D

The device is ethernet based (hear that Neotel?). Just need to add a route from your PC / existing firewall.

It is just to see what to put outside the firewall (FTP site etc) and set up the routing tables (3G, LAN and wireless)

Well, a couple of people have said to me I should use my Wisp kit to connect to Jawug instead of selling it. So I registered, checked out the Google map, plotted myself on it and I'm in a nice line of sight with Northcliff. Now what? The wug.za instructions say there should be little icons to click on and join. I don't see any. Where to from here?

From my site survey I see 10 sites. Would the WUG be one of these and how does one connect? What settings etc?

Our Northcliff site is a BackBone site, so not available for clients unfortunately, but lots more Jawug's around the neighbourhood!

Suggest you come chat to us in IRC!

have a question or 2

1) what is the average transfer speed on the wug KB/sec?
2) i recon somekind of QOS /balancing is implemented so that when 2 guys are moving data on a link that it gives other people also a chance of enjoying acceptable speeds?

1. All depends on your location, distance away, how many hops required to get to where you going, equipment being used etc, but I would guess at anywhere from 100kb/sec to 2mB/sec at this stage (I have plans to improve this)

2. QoS rules are implemented between 19:00 and 23:00 to cater for the gamers, the rest of the time its all wide open.

:)

many thanks!

also - how much of a better purchase would a RB600 be over RB411 over a RB133c in terms of performance.

currently have wrt54gls with 16db sectrors at 2.4ghz -4km link - 1.3MB/sec
