Windows 7 - Updates/tips/tricks/secrets/etc

Downloaded it, is that legal copies? When would it be released in stores?

Yes and it was straight from Microsoft, and yes it is legal if it is RC as we got keys directly from Microsoft. It will be released to the public on the 22nd October 2009.

Hey where does every1 get Windows 7? Ive been looking for it but the stores dont have it yet. Im running VISTA and it is so damn irritating, its too slow!

The final version has been available for a month or so to OEM's, technet subscribers and others who have upgrade advantage etc.

It will be released to the masses later this month.

So which PC Tune Up Util would u all suggest for win7? i was also thinking of using TuneUp Utils but guess its gonna be no good. Good thing i havnt downloaded it yet.

Windows 7 Manager is pretty good. Google it. :)

So I've placed my pre-order for Windows 7 with Kalahari. Have been using it since the release in March and do not even want to think about going back to XP. My work PC frustrates me to death with the long start up.

Well, to add to my previous post. I've been running the 64bit Windows 7 Pro and it really hums. Alcohol 120, powerdvd, FSX, COD4, Office 2007, Winamp and all other addons \apps i used to have on my Vista machine...works. The updates thats been coming in via the updater are small and looks to be mostly security fixes.

Tip: To customize the right-click send to context menu, type "shell:sendto" in the windows explorer address bar to add or remove items.

Also...Keeping in shift while right clicking on a file or folder gives you additional options (such as copy as path, which is quite handy) and additional send to locations.

I am going to install Windows 7 x64 this weekend.

Before I rush off and install and make a mess :p, I wanted to know if most frequently applications is compatibility with Windows 7 :)

* Office 2007 (Should be compatible).
* Nod32? or maybe another anti-virus ?
* Daemon Tools ?
* Winamp ?
* Any Games not compatible with Windows 7? Call of Duty 4?
* Adobe CS3 (rarely use this though) ?
* Codecs (Almost forget about that) :eek: Does .mkv work?
* Nero ?
* Grabit / Altbinz ?

Goodbye Vista! :D
