I know there are other threads that berate Afrihost's Hosting performance but I have to start another one to highlight my frustration.

I have been decent for almost two months now. Afrihost has the most disastrous India Support team ever on the face on human kind. They actually mutilated my back office.

They are so quick to just close the ticket not taking the time to understand the problem. It is always the usual suspects, Nidhi, Gayathri, Bhuvana, Swetha (Queen of pathethic), Aparna (First Princess) Zareer.

My frustration has reached where even the Star Trek crew did not even dare to go!

How difficult can it be to restore a backup....

How difficult can it be to change CGI Parameters

How difficult can it be to solve an Internal Server Error

All the while the consumer pays for the full hosting. They have this don't care attitude now. OH! we are now big guns, take your freakin business elsewhere attitude.

LET ME TELL YOU AFRIHOST, it was loyal ppl like me who stood by you from the days you had a small office in the early 2000's.

I am terribly disappointed at Gian and his team. It seems my divorce is inevitable. My downtime and customer loss has convinced me I am with the wrong partner. They should exit the hosting sphere and let the professionals handle it.

I have tried to be civil and understanding that IT problems are there but can be fixed in a responsible and timeous manner. This is unfortunately not the ETHOS Afrihost's staff and management now share, with their big fortune's.

Their new support response line.... "Its in the hands of our Server Admins" . These so called ghosts cannot be called, or heard from.

I have went to their offices, sat with their support staff, spoke to the Supervisors... How much more can your customer do to get your house in order.

Never thought I would write this....

Sad thing is that many people, like me, have always been loyal Afrihost supporters. Things have just become unbearable now. I dont mind the downtime as much as the unbelievable attitude of the staff. The client service is bad and bottom line is that they have grown big enough not to care.

I have decided to talk with my wallet and in the last few months I have moved over my business accounts and this month I am cancelling my personal services with them.

By the end of december I will have no ties left to them, and will always dissuade people from using their services.

First, I am not a fan of Afrihost, but dude seriously?

Usually when you get a dedicated server, it is your responsibility to take care of the software issues on it, the hosting company only have to ensure there is power, network connectivity ect to your server, and deal with the hardware issues and maybe at most ensure the OS can boot up and connect to the internet.

Yet you expect them to look at backups, cgi settings, IIS errors? Seriously? You should rather go for shared hosting if that is the case.

Unless this is fully managed dedicated server hosting?

If fully managed you have a point, if not then this is a pointless rant.

We have an unmanaged solution with then and they have always been keen to help us even though they don't have to

I was just about to open a thread, the entire VM environment is down yet again.

Could be a networking issue:

Hell it could be anything at this point

I have decided to move from Afrihost....

Any suggestions anyone?

Looking for fully managed hosting.

The best support you will get is from Linode, Rackspace and DigitalOcean

If you are looking for something South African only, I hear Elitehost are decent.

Look at HostGator, so far I have had no problem with them and they have so much to offer.

If you dont mind dealing with the downies who run their support department then go for it. Their front line support is clueless on DNS.

Also started with the dedicated server at Afrihost last year, but one excuse after the other and they managed to get me to upgrade 3 times since then. Currently running a high cloud server package, cost me 4 times more and there is every month a problem with either the network or the server. I have 85 domains that is every month a day or two down, or so slow and every time its apparently something I did.

No idea why they have managed and self-managed dedicated packages. Check the price difference and you dont get the response or help expected on the managed package.
