Afrihost Mobile Delivery Feedback Thread

You can easily cancel your existing product and then sign up for an equivalent product using your MTN number, once that functionality is available. You won't need a new SIM, and you'll still have a Free MiFi. It really won't be too much of a hassle :)

Gonna cancel then and get APN one, also got it for my MTN. At least I'll have a very pretty paperweight mifi. :p

Cool, that is good to know. Don't get me wrong, its still a great deal, and I'm looking forward to using my Mifi device; I am sure I'll get some use out of it. But I can't be the only one that read the promo material and thought that I could use my 5GB data on my MTN contract.

We did try to make it clear that this would be the case in terms of Pre-Order vs Launch. Makes sense though, if you think about it. Cellular networks "authenticate" with a number. A SIM card also needs a number to authenticate, so there is no way we could have linked your SIM without clearly asking you about this. When it goes live, it will be a slightly different signup, requiring your MTN details. And no SIM card will be issued from us.

Mine also. It says account up to date but nothing has gone of my bank account and my payment has not been verified

It depends on your bank. It's similar to pro-rata payments. Monthly payments are submitted in advance to the bank, so they can go off on the first. In this case, we still have to accumulate details and create payment files for each bank, so it takes a little longer.

Just make something up and print it out in colour on your printer.

Yeah, I don't think they'll accept made up stuff. If it doesn't look like a reputable or known retail or utility provider you might end up not getting your stuff. Print out an online Telkom Bill that has their logo and branding (in colour preferably) but it must clearly state the residential address and have your name on it.

Afriman, will we be able to cancel the month-to-month package of R145 (5GB) and, whenever we feel like it, just add 1GB of Data at R99 should our ADSL go down - or is it a "Month-to-Month or nothing" affair?

What I'm asking as well is, if the Month-to-Month package (Mobile Two) is cancelled, will the sim remain active in a pre-paid state or will it just become a chunk of plastic?

Just wanted to say thank you to Afrihost, the service, the call centre and experience has been incredible! To think, my bank was not listed on the ClientZone, one quick call and next think i know all the details are available! Thanks so much guys, cannot wait for my device or my data and at this rate my new adsl isp

AfriMan,

If you share a house and don't have any utility bills in your name, what would be the course of action to take when the courier arrives?

An official letter stating acknowledgement of your address from your employer should suffice - it's what I've used for previous RICAs as I also don't receive any bills. I'm hoping the same applies here.

The SIM is specific to a data bundle, so as long as you have an active package on it, you can still upgrade or downgrade your package with us on the same SIM. However, we will not be offering any prepaid packages at launch, so the only option in that vein would be to opt for the smallest possible data package. We'll announce these at launch and you can decide then, or chat to me about it :)

A lease agreement in your name is preferable, or a letter from the owner of the property (with a utility bill in their name) which is certified by a commissioner of oaths, stating that you live at the said property.
