Maybe it's because hop 8 (local, 41.206.*.*) and 10 (41.206.*.*) both have that local feel about themIt's definitely an international hop.The naming of these routers can often be a little misleading and it's always best to look at the IP addresses instead. What's shown in your initial trace on hop 9 is where the packet is coming from, not where the packet ended up.
I think the bigger problem here is the lack of feedback to your clients. As far as I can tell this thread is the only place that you have communicated that there was an issue in the south.
Good morning everyone (and specifically our clients in the South) Our network team started implementing changes on the network in the South from last night and are currently monitoring performance.I'd like to encourage everyone to continue testing and send me feedback from today onward which I'll relay directly to the team.

what time is free data from afrihost? I have 30gb that I am struggling to finish because the free time data is when most my usage is.
Props where props is due, Twitch is running much better now.

Would you mind being more specific on the changes made? I'm still experiencing the same spikes in latency and I just finished downloading iOS app updates which ran between 3-4Mbps which is 1/5 my line speed.
How often are you seeing the latency spikes? Are there any other services that don't seem to be running at full speed at the moment?
We always do our best to prioritise this. But it really depends on various things such as your DNS, gaming protocols and the server you're connecting to. If you give me a little more detail around this (maybe over PM) I'll do my best to assist you.![]()

thanks.Free-Time runs between 00h00and 18h00. As of the 1st of February the Free-Time promotion is coming to an end. All of our Capped Clients will still receive the After-Hours data between 00h00 and 08h00.

I use Default DNS settings on my router, ie you guys. The server is international (London). Here is a MTR attached. (I'm on a capped package)

Random spikes, iOS only thing I've tested. Speedtest also up and down

I was told earlier in another post that the description on that one is incorrect and is in fact international. Btw, I have 22 hopsThat's a lot of extra hops, but even ignoring that - the 6th hop is still in CT but 134ms?

Some feedback:
The local latency issues arising from routers 'cpt-rx2.ip.adsl.co.za' and 'cpt-net1.ip.adsl.co.za' appears to have been resolved as you will see in the below trace to Twitch LHR:
