So I'm currently without connectivity. Home-connect have finally killed the line. Hopefully we can get switched quick quick... @AfriMan

Also with Home-Connect.

Exactly the same issue, internet killed, but apparently line not cancelled so can't be taken over by Afrihost

Multiple phone calls, still waiting to speak to the person who organised the cancellation, always on the other line, never return call. Now been escalated to Head of Operations to sort out

Hope everything gets sorted. Just shout when I can update the guys to get started.

That's awesome. Looking at your name - AfriKali - you're halfway there already :)
AfriMan, if I instruct my current ISP to cancel as of 31 Jul, how long will it take to switch from them to Afrihost?

@AfriMan, I replied to an email received from Gian yesterday, as a previous Afrihost client.

I'm currently with Telkom / Openserve aerial and have about 5 months to go on a 24 month contract. Vumatel trenched went live a few months ago.

If I understand your promotion correctly, I can order Vuma 100mbps Uncapped and get up to 3 months free. In addition, you will cover installation and the Telkom candellation fee up to R3992 (R5000 - R1007.77), assuming I do not take your router. Please confirm.

The order is in my cart... just need to hit 'checkout'.

Unfortunately, we can't do test accounts on Vuma, they use DHCP mapped to your Vuma line.

That's part of the reason we offer 3 months, so that even if your first month is short, we can still give you 2 full months free. Best too move the line over now and be connected :)

Well I most probably going to get charged for next month from the ISP, since it was actually the cancellation month.
Vuma has messed this up.

My reason for moving was to get 3 months free, not 1 month.

Pitty you cannot help, sitting nowhere now.

Just confirming this is normal. I didn't even see a "thanks for signing up, we'll be in touch" message, or email. I'd expect some kind of confirmation that my submission was at least successful? There's zero sign anywhere that I've even applied, which is my worry.
U should get an email saying your order is in progress

Same issue with me. According to Vuma the line is currently sitting in "Awaiting Cancellation" status and Afrihost will only be able to accept it at midnight, yet according to my wife at home there's no internet activity at the moment since after my previous ISP released the line.

What a stuffed up process from Vuma :(

It should be pretty seamless, but at most you shouldn't be offline more than a few hours if things don't go as planned.

Speeds look okay but lower than home connect if I remember correctly? Need more tests though.
Out at the MO but will pull the home connect results shortly. Pretty much on a par. Afrihost stronger on some tests. But 50‰ cheaper.

Was also wondering - is the 1gbps account also limited to 100mbps international?

There's no limit from our side - but latency can also affect performance. I also heard something at the MyBB Fibre Conference about difficulties testing 1Gbps - I didn't quite follow the technical jargon though :(

I have asked our CTO to have a look and confirm what could be affecting those tests.

But definitely no protocol or international limits imposed by us.

Yes, we will cover your cancellation fee up to a maximum of what is left on your R5k credit - less activation fee, etc.

Just wodering if its even worth getting 1Gbps if you will not even reach 200Mpbs international. Might as well then just stick with 200 Max. Why pay the extra - unless u want to watch 7de laan in 8K based on local results

The 3 months only kick in when you get activated. So if that is only two months away, you still get the 3 months.

I am sitting without internet NOW. If you activate it now, I will lose a full month.
Then all of this was a waste.

I had no issues with my previous provider, should have just stayed there.
Maybe I should ask them to take the line back again.
