Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

I am sitting without internet NOW. If you activate it now, I will lose a full month.
Then all of this was a waste.

I had no issues with my previous provider, should have just stayed there.
Maybe I should ask them to take the line back again.

You will definitely get two full months, even if your first month is 7 days. Surely that is still a good benefit? :(

I totally get what you are saying, but that's one of the reasons why we extended migration to 3 months, so that people moving over can get a decent whack of free service on the network.

I will only get 1 month, since my previous ISP will charge for next month, which is the cancellation month.

Thus overall not worth the hassle.

Provide me a solution whereby I will get the full 3 months benefit.

BTW, where is my line now? Back with Vuma?

Hello World

I have been with Afrihost (ADSL bundle) for a few years. Their service ranged from very good to poor, but I have only ever needed to contact them a few times.
I was looking to upgrade to fibre (only Vumatel in my area) last month, but they seemed indifferent about retaining me as a client. When I asked about the installation fee, which Home-Connect was offering free, the response was, to paraphrase: we don't.
I then started contemplating the pain of cancelling and moving to Home-Connect vs slow ADSL. So, I was in the middle of doing nothing about it, when I saw their offer last week. Signed up immediately!
Installation was much quicker than I anticipated; installer called me the next day and made an appointment for two days later (and they arrived at the appointed time).
Activation has been painful (3 x 1hr WhatsApp sessions, following pretty much the same steps), but it seems to be resolved as of yesterday.

So, I am relatively happy, and will continue the relationship with Afrihost. Overall rating 2/3 - expectations met but not exceeded.

Remember that if your old ISP charges you a cancellation penalty to move earlier, we credit that back to you.

So let's say your ISP charges you for August to release your line today.

In terms of free service from us, you will get rest of July, plus August, plus September.

But then we will credit your Afrihost billing account with the fee that you paid your previous ISP (up to remainder of the R5K limit). So depending on what you were paying, that will most likely be an additional month you won't have to pay.

Glad that you are happy and connected now. Sorry about the activation hassle and the previous experiences. I promise we're going to make your next experience with us amazing :)

My line is available. So what do I do know. I want the service activated on 1st of August.

I know its not an exact science - but i see many of those tests are now slower on AH ? With a few being a bit better. Overall - how do you find the speeds ?

Same issue with me. According to Vuma the line is currently sitting in "Awaiting Cancellation" status and Afrihost will only be able to accept it at midnight, yet according to my wife at home there's no internet activity at the moment since after my previous ISP released the line.

What a stuffed up process from Vuma :(
Mine disconnected from old ISP at 11.30pm last night, so the midnight thing wouldn't be an issue.....still no internet, and neither Home-Connect or Vumatel are replying

This is the first time that I've ever requested a cancellation and if I knew this was standard procedure I would have requested them to cancel the line when nobody was home - my wife is a stay at home mom, so right now she can't do or watch anything since we don't have DSTV.

What's more annoying is that both Vuma and Afrihost are telling me that the previous ISP connection should still be active and I should still have internet access. I have explained that I usually connect to a PC which I use to download from work, but right now I'm unable to. Also, my wife has basic networking knowledge which I've taught her over the years so I tend to believe her when she tells me that the fibre line is down.

This is the confimation mail from Vumatel ([email protected]):
Your cancellation of Axxess 100/10 from Axxess has been received. Order number: O0000000xxxxxx The order will be removed from: <my address>, Cape Town Your service will be removed the following date: 7/24/2019 12:00:00 AM

Isn't that today???

6 of the one, half a dozen of the other. Big difference is the R800 a month saving over and above the freebies and rebates. Also it makes no sense to go with a 200/200 account at the same price point.

Fair enough

Uh, Cool Ideas 30 day cancellation notice.
Now I need to stay on them till end August, before I can activate Afrihost.

Will this be a problem?

Wouldn't I be charged then?
You will have to still pay for August, see this as a "cancellation fee" - but ask them to invoice you for this amount, and send it to AH who will reimburse you this amount.

I am still waiting for mine to be issued.

I'm with cisp.. Just tell them that u wanna be released on the 31st but that you'll pay the cancellation fee for Aug.. Then send invoice to Afrihost and they will credit your account.. That's what I'm in the process of doing.. My line gets released on the 31/07/2019

Outstanding, will do, thanks!

Yes, we will cover your cancellation fee up to a maximum of what is left on your R5k credit - less activation fee, etc.

@AfriMan, order placed. Thanks. Qs below.

i) Install scheduled for Monday, 29th. Assume I can activate on Thursday 1st?
ii) I have a 2nd contract with Vumatel / Cell C (rental property) ending in a few months. Is this offer limited? NOTE: I could capture another order and it shows the discounts, but did not do checkout yet.
