How long will this take, when I spoke to support they said it wouldn't take long?

Well here's the thing:

if one ISP moves it into the holding pool it is easy and completed within minutes. When Telkom do it, we find delays and errors all over the show. So when Telkom now process it, we double-check everything first and confirm feasibility, then submit the request. So in this case it has returned unfeasible already. But that's not to say it's correct - it's usually some form of admin delay on their end. So we re-check every hour for you, and once it updates to feasible we process immediately. We then wait for Telkom to confirm final movement into the ISP's management and then finally update you about it.

There is no set time, ever. Typically, if Telkom have done their job properly and there are no delays, it takes around a few minutes. If however their system is down or admin is delayed, or they've mad an error, it can take a day or so, and in the worst cases around 3 days of back and forth between us and them for them to fix things.

For an ISP it's now actually really simple. Line moves into holding pool > we request migration > Telkom confirms completed. When another ISP does it, it usually works this way. In reality we find delays however on the odd occasion when Telkom do this. We however process immediately for you...

My line got transferred from Axxess to the holding pool, I don't want to be stuck without internet for three days or even longer, I have work to do for University that requires an Internet connection :)

I don't know why it would take long? I need Internet and here I am stuck without it, support said that it wouldn't take long (quickest being 8 mins), that's the only reason I requested a transfer because support said it would hassle free and easy. Not liking no internet at the moment...

So if your line is with Telkom, how long does it take for it to be moved to CW? (Estimate)

And is there any benefit as of right now to doing something like this?
As it seems impossible to avoid extended downtime without Internet.

With Telkom it takes anywhere from a few min to 3 days. Afraid I have no idea what the hell they're doing over there. Seems all ISPs have figured out Telkom's new policies other than Telkom themselves...

So technically if you knew someone on the inside at Telkom and they fast tracked it. As soon as they have released it is CW able to pick it up?

Yes, once in the holding pool and their systems update to indicate as such it's very quick and easy.

They're moving you to a new MSAN there. Lots of work at your exchange at the moment and quite a few network notices out. All planned work though. Your sync is at 1024 at the moment because of it...

My modem swears it's 10240?

Official Crystal Web ADSL performance feedback thread Part 3...

Shaun, with regards to our chat the other day about fibre. Will you guys offer an all inclusive price of line & data?

Don't exactly want to lock myself into a WA contract on the line and pay an extra R100 to use CW data.
