I am on FTTH from Telkom.

Running sweetly on CW.

Davedes will be joining you soon... :D

Sinbad's exchange was just yesterday upgraded to support fibre over Telkom too, so I suspect there's a bit of a race on the cards here. All good news for end users...

Question.

Does CW accounts support higher than 40mb speeds yet? Home capped specifically.

Shaun, with regards to our chat the other day about fibre. Will you guys offer an all inclusive price of line & data?

Don't exactly want to lock myself into a WA contract on the line and pay an extra R100 to use CW data.

Not just yet on the line bundle for various reasons I'm afraid. You will be locked into a contract, but yes it will be with the provider you choose for the line...

Yes. But we are evaluating this at the moment and the associated pricing. We're allowing Davedes to sync at 100Mbps and measuring performance across the network when this happens as we may need to introduce some tweaks here and there, so I'm not altogether keen to release the 100Mbps+ speeds just yet over Telkom until I'm 100% certain that everything is in order. It's a fairly technical issue at play here we've been monitoring for a while and playing with, to ensure that we don't inadvertently create an unnecessary contention problem when our systems auto-manage the network...

That makes sense. I'll stay on 40mb for now then. VoX bolt on anyway limited to 10mb.

CW I use for game downloads :D gotta love 4.5MB/s down.

How is the new profile?

I want to move back but my experience with the old home capped account was terrible on a 40mbit connection. Even steam downloads were terrible. Never got line speed.

Interesting, I was told the telkom FTTH in my area was on hold as there was no budget.

Are you able to shed any light on whether there's a cost difference to the consumer for telkom vs the others?

Not really keen to get into pricing comparisons on this sort of thing just yet as your costs may vary for your area...

Vuma is open access & line rental is a hell of a lot cheaper than Telkom. Although if your neighbourhood was only approved today it could only be installed 4-6 months time. Telkom would probably be first if your exchange was updated yesterday.

Hmmmm. How much cheaper? Last time I checked it was marginal at best...

They expect to begin construction end september. Wayleaves etc have already been applied for.

I figured the open access would be cheaper than telkom. I'm not particularly interested in telkom fibre to be honest.
