Must say after I canceled things got better. Currently downloading WoW patch 6.2 and at 8:30 this morning it was running at almost full line speed.

and might be the last opportunity to do so)

I've pretty much given-up with torrenting. NNTP is serving me well. However, I'd ideally like a reliable streaming service-level and avoid hardware storage.

The issue was that certain types of Gaming Downloads on our Premium Uncapped Accounts were not being shaped correctly according to the network demand at the time, therefore increasing load on the network and causing some issues during peak times.

The fix has gone in this morning and we've seen an improvement on the network so far.

So basicly screwing legit usage cause your network is too poor to handle it...Excellent...

Exactly what I am doing..... lower data usage and I no-longer use my media server which equates to lower electricity usage too ! Double bargain.

FYI - I stream through my Rasperberry PI (Openelec / Genesis) and also my Samsung Bluray player (Netflix). Forget downloading .... why do you need it when it's all available to stream on demand anyway

Unfortunately this thread does not inspire much confidence and I am going to a capped product instead. Tired of hearing excuses about shaping, throttling, etc.

My comments must inspire confidence... I have never had an issue and my CW account kicks the butt of every other ISP I have tried in Cape Town

You are on their top tier package. It is expected that your service should be top notch. If anything it's not exceptional it's bog standard for what you are paying. If you're not getting it then there is a problem :D

My usage is minimal - as I am sure many other's here are as well - and as said before it should not be needed to buy a premium product meant for business class customers to stream some content. Hell. No.

I don't mind the download shaping - shape away - the streaming and realtime services impact is what grinds my gears. That is not on.

Waiting on some kind of update on capped accounts for the fix which goes in tomorrow.

I have tried Business Accounts with all the other ISPs that I have tested in CT and CW's is far superior for streaming in comparison:whistle:

Well I definitely cannot echo that experience. Currently CW is giving me 400kB odd...and my backup account is giving me 4.5MB. Pretty big damn disparity right there.

I'm glad it works for you, I wouldn't expect anything less either. The point being it was CW's mantra from the start that you shouldn't need a business class account to stream and use the internet the way it was meant to be. I'm a 4meg home premium uncapped user and have also been struggling with youtube streaming. This to me is against everything that was CW's mantra.

PM sent last night and no reply - is it that difficult?

Ah, the old "piss of the support dude before you even start getting helped" approach........ always works sooooo well with IT Support peeps.... LOL ;)

I would recommend a friendly approach, the results might be more positive !

I would recommend they cancel my account as promised ... but hey that's just me expecting too much again

Netflix very meh. Showing all the signs of even streaming being shaped.

480p at best.

Come on CW. Sort the home capped accounts out. We're not bandwidth hogs and deserve better, you know, the way it's meant to be.

If support dude answered pm promptly customer wouldn't get upset....;)

Hey CrystalWeb. If the currently applied fixes aren't resolving the slow speed of certain users, do you have other fixes in the pipeline?

It sounds like they are shaping home capped to a percentage of the backhaul speed, and not a percentage of your line speed. Which means that the home capped pipe is likely a broadband uncapped service. Possibly it's the same pipe as the home uncapped service? That would be pretty unfair, because then uncapped account users's internet habits are determining your level service.

10 mb Home capped Cape Town - Cancellation pending no hard feelings :)
Personal experience from 1 June.
Support - Excellent
Streaming better after IPC.
Not an account for any downloads during the day.
Random shaped nntp downloads 12-6 ( Probably still some issues to be sorted )

Nothing against CW there home capped just not suit my needs
