Must say it's a rocky start.

Signed up for a free account to test their network to see if latencies really are lower, as it could perhaps help me. Low and behold the free accounts only go up to 10Mb/s.

Now I am getting 2x usage notification emails per day which I never asked for, and when I wanted to log into the portal to see if there was some way to disable it, I find out there is no portal.

Will just mark it as spam then.

Alpha portal releases next month and ask anyone on live chat and they can disable the usage notifications for you. We are contemplating removing the trial limitation as well but not in the very short future (next 2 weeks).

So last night I signed up for a trial account to see how CW compares to my other accounts. Completed all the details and received an email with account username. According to the email the password will be send to me. Does anybody know how long this takes because up to now I have not received any password ?

I did contact live chat and after about 15min problem solved. They tried to send my password by sms but I wasn't receiving it.

I must say that I don't see any real difference in ping or download speeds between them and my other 2 accounts. I will do some more tests tonight.

Its not great testing using a trial account though, as you dont have much data to really give it a full go. If you can get a small cap and fully test, then you might see the CW account performs great.

btw CW rep management dude :) Any plans on caps smaller than 100 gigs? :)

Why does everyone want tiny capped accounts? I mean, the accounts are uncapped from midnight to 6pm every day. I'm doubtful they could survive an onslaught of freeloaders at such a low price level.

I already have a Telkom and AH account, but would like to test the CW products as well. Was hoping maybe just for 50GB bundle at a lower price, as my pocket wont allow for anymore :) Personally just a financial situation pal

Crystal Web isn't the kind of ISP you need to test bud. Cancel your other accounts and make the switch.

If CW do offer a small capped account, I have to hope that it doesn't carry the same perks as the bigger ones. The potential for abuse is just too great.

+1. Any problems I have with CW, have nothing to do with performance.
 
I think if they ever do offer smaller capped accounts they would probably remove the free data from them, which would just annoy people and create undue complaints.

I know in the past CW did custom accounts for smaller packages, not sure if they still do it. Might have been a once off thing.

@Icemanbrfc, you could always just ask support if they can do a custom account for the month. They might do it. Who knows.

yeh im just asking, as it was something i asked Shaun before. im having no issues with AH. I might cancel my Telkom Data, but then i lose my integrated data sim option. Ill see how things go and decide what to do. :) But good to see all the different options people have, and how affordable it has become, which is a pretty good thing.

Yup that integrated data is just too valuable to give up. I think at the end of the day it is good to have multiple isp to choose from instead of just 1 isp eg Telkom. It allows people to pay what they want who they want.

500MB Afrihost data costs R29pm. 1GB is R58pm, and 2GB is R99pm. You could always just pay for the data you want without an Afrihost Plus package, and be a mobile customer of their's. Also, I believe Crystal Web said in their initial layout for the upcoming announcements that mobile data is coming.

Ok, I will be that guy - announcement today? :-)

I freakin' hope so.
