I guess only CW users noticed it, as we're basically the only ones not used to any kind of traffic management/throttling/shaping. ;)

Maybe, but it does only seem to be Crystal Web clients, which is very strange.

If that is indeed true (have no evidence that suggests that it is), then it's concerning, yes.

Evidence can be gathered by just going to any non-CW line rental client and checking their line speed. Every CW-line client is currently on 2Mbs, right?

Mine was fluctuating throughout my 4.5GB of downloads last night between 4Mb/s and 2Mb/s every few minutes. And my download started at full speed every time I retried it, for about 15-20 seconds.

Why would they lie to us? They never have before - even last year when there was a hardware failure on their side causing downtime, they admitted it right away. And MickeyD, who has personal contact with DJ, said above that he has confirmed as much.

Basically, what are you suggesting is up? Sounds like you're aiming in the sinister direction, and I can't for the life of me think why.

What makes you think I'm aiming for anything, a mass error by Openserve of this size would surely be impacting more than just one ISP's clients? Where is the MyBroadband click-bait article? Just seems a bit strange, and you are suddenly on the defensive when questioned.

FTFY.

Really just curious as to what it would achieve for CW if they're lying about it.

I'm not even accusing CW of lying, it could more than likely be Openserve ****ing up and shifting the blame onto an upgrade.

What is strange is how it's localized such that only one ISP is impacted.

Is your line still synced at 2Mb/s today? Man that's shoddy if true. Problem is getting hold of someone at OpenServe, never mind someone admitting that they're at fault.

Now I'm eager to test my line when I get home after work.

OK, so I talked to CW support (again). I asked them 3 questions: When the problem would be fixed, if only CW is affected and if CW expects us to pay full price for 2Mbps. The answers were that Openserve haven't given CW any info on when it would be fixed, so they don't know, that other ISPs were affected as well and asking me to contact billing@ for billing queries.

This post is so hard to follow. How about a bullet point list?

PS: Was able to figure it out, but it's not nice to read.

OK, let's make it simpler :D

When will it be fixed? Don't know, no info from Openserve.

Is this problem only affecting CW? No.

Will we have to pay full price for the 2Mbps we're getting? Ask billing.

No other ISPs have been impacted according to an Openserve contact I have. He mentioned this problem being related to a mass line migration from another ISP to Crystal Web? No other details besides that but wtf?

Maybe this is something to do with releasing Telkom ADSL lines from Telkom ISP to CW, since the de-merger of Telkom and Openserve?

Possible, but why only Crystal Web? I've asked for more information and after lunch I hope something clearer is communicated.

I am sitting with the same issues. Checked other isp forums and no one else is having this issue.

Is this related to the sms that was sent out telling customers that our telkom line is being migrated and that "I" must contact my new ISP?

lol

comical

I smell bull****

Also why no notification sent out prior this happened and if not why not during?

Did not see anything on Crystalweb webpage either

Could simply be that they are doing this one ISP at a time.

I mean anyone with Best Practice in mind would operate like that to control the fallout.

Any large Enterprise (like Telkom / Openserve) would be insane to do such a migration to ALL their clients at once.

Here I was thinking it's just me having this issue since yesterday, so at least glad I'm not alone. Couldn't figure it out as my Attenuation was better than ever but syncing at 2MB.

Yeah dude but best practice is letting your customers know.

Communication is key, how ironic. lol

I'm on 10mb fibre. My speeds went to 300mb yesterday, and now it's fluctuating big time between 2mb and 10mb.

Anybody else seeing BS drops in speed? My sync speed dropped from 30Mbps to 2Mbps (attainable from 34Mbps to 13Mbps). According to CW this is related to openserve maintenance. Anybody else with the same issue?
Yes me too. I dropped from 45 down to 2. It was a real mission trying to work from home with this POS.

Durban KZN seems fine. The ping is a little high as I ran the Speed test app from my phone which is connected via WiFi.
