Yeah, I jumped ship the second I heard what was going on. Domaincheap was fine before, but I've come to the conclusion that this transition has not been well-managed.

EliteHost FTW.

This one wasn't handled well, in addition to the previous one.

I'm in the same boat I have to renew a domain but no response what so ever.
Any alternative contact details?

Domaincheap.co.za take a week for a response if u lucky . .
If you want a refund they tell u get hold of previous owner..via email

"Good day

Thank you for your email and contacting us.

We sorry that this lead to you now requesting cancellation with us.

I can confirm that we are unable to refund the money back into your bank account. We have not bought over the financial side of the business, which means that the monies you paid was sent directly to the previous owners.

If you would like the money refunded, kindly contact .........................."

Will follow up as to whether this is legal and post a response, but if memory serves correct then Web Africa buy all debt and assets at the time of the purchase so they are required to refund you.

Webafrica domaincheap refund saga continues

Update

2 december 2015 & still short R1026 for funds i loaded when still the old domaincheap (but already bought by webafrica)
No refund from either domaincheap nor webafrica....R1026 gone into the twilight zone.........

coza reply when i took it up with their legal section was
"Dear Sir,

Please note that we are unable to assist with your refund request and should the relevant Registrar be unable to assist you, you may want to consider having your attorney send out a letter of demand.

Kind regards, "

The saga continues

Hey Pano

Have you sent Web Africa helper a PM to see if they are able to resolve the issue?
This is a simple matter to resolve. If you have paid Domain Cheap and have proof of payment then Web Africa need to reimburse you if you have requested it or transfer the credit over to your new account.

They have access to all of Domain Cheap's financial records as this would have formed part of the sale agreement between both parties.

ZA Central Registry legal department have no jurisdiction over this matter so they would not be able to intervene unless you had attempted to transfer your domain and they subsequently rejected the transfer.

Have you attempted to transfer your domain to a new registrar?

As per above, try and resolve the issue by sending them a PM and if that proves pointless then refer the matter to the small claims court rather than an attorney.

Webafrica domaincheap refund saga continues

I have resorted to taking the issue up with Standard Bank Credit Card Division.

This issue has been far from simple to resolve .
When i logged tickets on domaincheap old site (points to webafrica now) , i got referred from one party to the other .

Domaincheap have said that webafrica is responsible while webafrica says its the old domaincheap responsible.

So far no feedback from Webafrica via pm here or otherwise

With regard to transferring a domain .
I currently have 1 x .com domain to transfer , logged a ticket & what a nightmare. I just requested a EPP code to transfer away .

Someone at Webafrica decides its a good idea to change all the email contacts on my domain to a webafrica email address & send me a dumb email about transferring domain to webafrica..

I want to transfer AWAY from domaincheap/webafrica & NOT to them

Nightmare continues ...........

Sorry to hear about all the issues Pano

We'll be able to assist you with transferring of your domain names.

Please use the link within my signature to take a look at the solutions we offer.

Far better to manage your domain names yourself.

Thanks for the offer . Will remember it in the future

At the moment its the issue with the refund/credit during the domaincheap takeover by webafrica
& now the .com transfer.

Most resellers / registrars in sa use other big registrars / resellers overseas and thats where the problem lies.
The epp code needs to be obtained from the local reseller who gets it from the overseas registrar/reseller.

Not like the transfer of .co.za domains which is pretty much straightforward

Morning Pano

Please send me a PM with your domain names, in particular the .com and I'll try to assist in getting this resolved.

Morning Jade,

Out of interest, what would you do?
Morning Willo

I suggest getting in touch with the owning registrar and lodging a complaint that the registrant's details were changed without his consent and therefor he is unable to transfer it away.
