IF that even works. I have had the stream stop at 720p. This is on a 50Mbps line where it halts the stream constantly.
Fire up Netflix and voila! It just works and carries on running at 1080p.

There is no reason why streaming should be localised to a decoder or anything else, as they advertise that you can watch "from anywhere". So that's already a breach of advertising laws to start with. DSTV, you cannot have your bread buttered both sides.

So, it's just another case of: We are Africa, and in Africa, we make laws so that you the consumer, will stand hat in hand and ask us to please help you. We make a device and rules, and you must conform, or bye-bye. "Make customers happy and you will sell more" is not a concept that is well understood by Multichoice.
 
I've never understood this issue with account sharing. Surely their advertisers smile since their reach is 3-5 times wider if 5 platforms share an account?
 
dstv is like a old dying video store trying to revamp the store but in the end it wont work.

Only super sport keeps them on life support.
 
Yes, and another thing is that we should not be seeing the never-ending self-advertisements of DSTV, because we already pay for the service. Maybe they advertise to catch those watching "illegally", which is why they advertise that they cover rugby, on the rugby channel 211. I see now - that's how they support illegal watchers, while moaning because there supposedly are illegal watchers, so they can squeeze more money out of legal watchers ...

Dstv's app (At least the Android TV app) is the slowest and least user friendly when compared with other services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+. They are losing the streaming war and they are losing big. Amazon's coverage of the November rugby internationals was excellent last year and they pose a real threat to Dstv for sports broadcasting.

They're generally pretty good (but lenient) with the number of streams - especially from the same IP

There's something to be said for the convenience of playback through whatever you choose

No, they cannot get advertisers, to buy the space, so they self advertise.

Was highly amused with their earlier "Netflix is killing us" and later Netflix and Disney are killing us" episodes - asking the Gummint to please "Protect us from ourselves" plea.

I'm more than happy to watch their sport illegally, and I'm sure their advertisers are also happy I'm watching.
 
So what if I am away from home and want to be still able to watch a EPL match?
 
I don't understand what the problem is. They had simultaneous streams for a long time until they decided to do this shyte.
