Home-Connect ISP Feedback

Just to add to the note, lets do the test with them and we can work to a plan to resolve maybe it is just a technical issue

I have tried numerous times.. I'm just going to cancel after my year is up and look elsewhere. They are definitely shaping

I'm on 200mb and can't get higher than 30mb international on a London speedtest

NZBs are shaped to 100mb
Torrents are shaped to 50mb

The moment you use a vpn the shaping dissapears and you get full speeds

I recently upgraded my line. Pleasantly surprised with the speed and their service. Was on the verge of cancelling but the lockdown made me nervous so I revoked my cancelation. Anyway, I have been getting great international speeds. With Metro Fibre and 60Mbps. Getting about 63Mbps international to Vodafone UK with 161ms. That for me is great. So I dont think it's HC,also check your carrier.

Hello all,

Just some feedback i have logged a call to the ISP and they just called back,

He states they do not guarantee international speeds, i explained to him it is not about the guarantee but the shaping that is an issue, he said he will escalate the matter to higher management and get back to me i also sent them a link of the thread so that they can see we are not just one customer that is concerned and we need proper feedback to resolve the matter.

Please advise who can assist with testing when the need is there as i believe we will be asked again.

I do believe we can resolve this with them lets see what happens

Could be that is why I said let's give them time to invistigate and respond.

If it is the carrier then they still need to sort it out as the isp.

We don't get good international speed and the issues is if using a VPN the speed is correct that makes it very strange and we need to get the the bottom of the issues

That is like 1/8 of my line speed this is why i am confused, but with and VPN as mentioned by other members they get almost full speed so why?

The speed to London is shocking

Like i mentioned really think they are going to help us, so far what i can see is that they are following up on the calls and moving it up to tier 2 support ect.

I dont want to leave the ISP but a lot of content that we need is international.

I asked them to assist like other ISP on the forum and we will see what they come up with

My feedback now is that they are assisting and doing what they can, yes it is taking some time but we all know the lockdown is not making it easy.

Could just be down to last mile packet loss on your FNO... the loss is likely not noticeable locally because of the low latency

Here's mine to a London server, got a 200/100 line. SADV is my FNO.

This is interesting then it could be a FNO issue as you get good speed on Vodafone UK on the same ISP

However we are all not on the same FNO and still have issues.

I'm in JHB if it helps.

Perhaps the routing from outside of Jhb is an issue . It would partially explain why routing your traffic through a VPN over a different path helps, can anybody else provide a Jhb speedtest?

Hello all, so i called in again today asked for feedback, support said that they are waiting for there manager to call me back. He said he sent his manager a message and he will call me back as soon as as his manager is done on his call. I never received a call back from him. I have sent and email again and will keep you all posted
