Hi all

A while back I asked for advice on building/upgrading my PC. Just wondering if the board and chipset recc'd back then are still good for gaming and reasonably heavy photoshopping.

(Or are there better 27" monitors out there? I've heard Dell do good monitors.)

Yes it's a good combo BUT you can get a i5-4590 for half the price, you would be stupid not to get one. You just need to get your own cooler as it does not come with one.
R1850 - Intel® Core™ i5-4590 Processors (6M Cache, up to 3.70 GHz)
or you can get a i7-4790 for R2.5k which is more than R1k less than that i5 4690 you listed, would also require you to buy a cooler.

The MB & RAM usually contribute zero to the performance of the system.

I like the look of that one, thanks. Can you recommend a cooler for it?

Any aftermarket cooler will probably be better than the stock intel one, you don't need anything fancy either.

Budget?
