Ok i just found out the answer to my own question, was on the phone with game, on a 51 inch plasma costing 7k they can do a extended 3 year warranty on top of the one year for an extra R659 (within 30 days of purchasing the item) worth it?

Yeah shopping around is the only real way to get a decent deal. The unit I've now decided on is selling for R10999 at Makro and Game yet Hirsch's quoted me R9200 for the same TV but they're waiting for stock to arrive later this week. With the R9200 price in mind (I actually got a written quote) I was hoping that Game would match/beat the price however when I got to Game they were basically full of sh*t and said they can't do a price beat unless the competing store has stock?! I'm really not sure how this makes a difference because I'll either buy the TV from Game today or in a weeks time from Hirsch's (when they've received their stock).

Out of principle however I'll be buying the TV from Hirsch's just because of Game's ridiculous policy and the fact that they weren't willing to help me out.

their T&C's do state clearly that the competitor must have the item in stock, so I dont see the problem
 
Hito, its not that ridiculous to have that policy, IMO. Hirsch might not end up ever receiving stock hence it could become an empty promise of a price.

Yeah I hear what you guys are saying but it is rather frustrating when one's plans are spoiled by something so trivial. :p

It's taken me quite a long time to make a final decision on a particular TV and now that I have I'm having to wait yet again....(gotta love Murphy!)

Apparently Makro will be having the same unit on promotion this weekend for R8999 so holding thumbs.

Also, does this bundle look like good value? Or should I consider a 40 or 46inch lcd? will mainly be used for xbox, mede8er and sdtv.

That's the PS43D490. Personally I'd rather get the PS51D450 at R6,999. Size > 3D.

And for your tasks, plasma will be better.
 
I've accepted that I won't be getting a plasma... No FHD 3D models below 50inches in SA. Panasonic sporting some nice models for international markets but spoke to them and it won't be coming to SA anytime soon if ever. And anyway, although there's no better than a Panasonic plasma, their 3D technology is lacking... So on goes my search for the perfect TV. Targeting LED's now...
