Mac Support

lol IC, i was being sarcastic,

thanks FireTelkom, will keep trying, i do have the latest VC mac dashboard. did you use the "patch" the others are talking about?

firetelkom, did you do an OS upgrade or did you do a clean install?

From Vodafone:

Leopard is not currently supported by Vodafone Mobile Connect for Mac. A version to support OS X 10.5 is in development and should be available by December 2007.
Note: You may experience difficulties using Vodafone Mobile Connect Cards and USB modems with the software included in Leopard. These difficulties will be resolved with the new Leopard-compatible version of Vodafone Mobile Connect.
A link to the new Leopard version of the Vodafone Mobile Connect for Mac software will be posted as soon as possible.

I did not load any patch, it just worked. I did an upgrade on a new macbook, and migrated all data and settings from my old macbook including the E220 software.

The version of Vodafone Mobile Connect that I am using is 3G 2.06.05.00

Don't forget the HMP for MAC possibility I mentioned - saw it a few days ago on Hauwei.com on the E220 downloads page.

hmmm as the mac noob i am.... the only version i can find is
E220-MACHOSTB022D04SP00C03 (Normal) but when i download it, its not a .dmg file or any file that my mac can recognize... in fact it thinks its an mpeg :) tried to rename to .dmg but still doesnt like it

e220 on leopard NO PROBLEM

do nothing, thats the trick !!

plug in the e220, leopard picks it up, go to system pref,
network, press the + on the left to create new service, under interface
choose your modem, then under configuration advanced choose vodafone, then at telephone number enter *99#, account name blank, password blank.... apply.... and connect

:)

your confusion??

i couldnt get it too work with the vodacom software. only when i removed that and let leopard detect it itself did it happen

vodafone 3G crash. will not open. help please

Hi
Hope some one can help,
I have been running vodafone mobile Broadband for around 4 weeks on my two macs. Both have now stopped opening the program. I click on the icon in the dock it jumps around as if to open. And that's the end !!. Nothing happens after this the program does not load. Have to force quit it to switch off the mac.

Running Mac OS X 10.4.10 on a iMac G5 also mini mac running the same. They have developed the fault at different times. Huawei modem is fine and is still getting the signal

Have not changed anything on it that I know of. Have lost power while program open but can not say if this has anything to do with the problem

Have reinstalled the vodaphone software. Spoke to vodafone which was no help. Is it possible not to use the vodaphone program and set it up with the mac network stuff, if i can get the number the modem dials off vodaphone ??

I've come across this multiple, and as i dont know my way around a MAC, or know MAC at all, i have been unable to find a cause and solution.

Could it possibly be MAC updates that causes this?

Why not try creating a manual dial-up with the modem? It should work.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Compatible Software Download Link

The installer for Macs on Vodacom’s is Version 2.07.03.00. This is not compatible with 10.5, requires you to force quit and causes the CPU to go wild. However Vodafone in Germany has 2.08.01.00 available for download. Works perfectly with Leopard. You can get it at:

http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/technischer-support/97001.html

The software is in English.

VMC Software hangs on Macbook

Hi all,

I am helping a friend with her Macbook, running OS X 10.4. She had been using the version supplied with the 220 (Vodafone branded) on it with no problems. Then she moved the modem to it to a a Windows PC where the built-in ISO software was used with success. When she tried moving the modem back to the Macbook, the software stopped working. Now, whenever she starts the VMC Software, the menu changes to VMC's, but non of the menus can be clicked. Also, the Activate window doesn't appear and nothing happens when the modem is plugged in.

We tried downloading the latest version from the Vodacom website (2.07.03), removed the previous version (dragged it to trash from the Applications folder) and installed the new one. However, exactly the same thing happens. The application can't be quit (force quit doens't work either). This in turn means that the machine can't be shut down.

Any suggestions?

New version available on Vodacom's website.

2.08.05.04

Leopard Quick Connect

My VMC software also suddenly stopped working after 1 week of success under Leopard.

There is an easy workaround for Leopard users :)

1. Put your SIM card in a phone handset and disable the PIN
2. Under network preferences, create a new service (+sign), interface setting is Huawei mobile.
3. Telephone number is *99# (Leave Username and Password blank)
4. Under Advanced, Vendor must be set to "Generic", Model to "GPRS (GSM/3G)", APN to "internet", CID to "1"
5. You can now connect without the VMC software

You can now drag the VMC software into the trash!
