MTN SuperSonic Feedback

Unplug the WAN cable completely and just run the router on a lan cable to a pc or laptop.
login with default username and password. Default username is admin password is on the back of your router.

At the bottom hold the mouse on Security then click on Certificates.

There should only be 1 listed there. Delete it by clicking on the bin icon under modify section. Once that is done click on the Trusted CA tab on top. There should only be 1 certificate again and delete that one too.

Now you can configure the pppoe details and router as you wish it will no longer get the UI disabled. Follow these steps on each firmware upgrade or when you reset the router again in the future.

Once you login with default username and password you will be prompted to change the password immediately. That would be your password to login to the router in the future so remember it. Done. Been running my Zyxel for a while now and it's fine never got locked again. ;)
Hi, I am trying to log in to the default gateway (192.168.1.1), but I seemed to be locked out.
How do I get around this (supersonic don't want to give me my username and password)

@cavedog I just read through your entire thread as I had just skimmed through last time and WOW, just wow.

The beginning seemed very positive until people started having issues which never got resolved, it was the top spot on MB and their pricing that attracted me here so here's hoping they stay good.

Can someone report whether supersonic is actually unshaped/unthrottled as I was looking through their website and there is nothing that actually states that they offer unshaped/unthrottled on thier packages. The reason I ask is all my streaming is done through a smart dns service, so all my streaming servers are based in the US.

The issues are with Supersonic IPC rate limit with Openserve. With Vumatel you should be having a blast.

It's completely unshaped, uncapped and unthrottled. 8tb in I can confirm this.

Follow those steps. So now start by unplugging the wan cable. Press the reset button. Once the router has reset to default settings log in with username admin and password on the back of the router.

Then delete the certificates in the security section and then you can reconnect the wan port.

Ok supersonic has just installed my router and wow, not bad.

Ping: 2ms
Download speed: 55mbps
Upload 6mbps

Ping to dota servers last night were 15ms on the b618.
Im now getting 10ms with the ZYXEL router

Don't forget to follow my guide to get you Zyxel UI back because they lock the UI unfortunately.

Thanks for the very helpful info on that, I will unlock it tonight. I wonder why they lock the router so heavily other than making sure average Joe's dont mess with stuff they shouldn't and then blame their isp.

Thanks a stack, much appreciated :)

Got an email from the supersonic technician. He forgot to take a certified copy of my id for rica.
Too late for me to go and get one from the post office now but I'm just curious, isn't rica for mobile sim producs? What does the rica do for a fibre line?

KYC it’s a requirement for all companies....

I've been 3 weeks on the free trial 20/2 (Vumatel Aerial) and there's tons to complain, but one them not being speeds. Full line speeds anytime of the day. with utorrent running up to 4MB/s and even reaching 7MB/s. One evening I managed to download 190GB in 6 hours!! I just hope this continues after the trial expires.

Issue with authentication this morning on Openserve. Used a mate's VOX DSL creds and managed to carry on.

They are busy with IPC upgrades and I hope that is why pppoe went down. Would be so awesome because the IPC congestion is crazy in the evenings.

Was that issue not promised to be sorted this week?

Yes but I have communication that was forwarded to me to show that the delays are with Openserve. Supersonic was supposed to have seen this long time ago but they only started when the complaints rolled in and now Openserve is the delay.

I will check tonight and I hope it's sorted now.

I've had to scurry this morning to get connectivity going due to this outage; MTN had no support to offer other than the fact that I need to wait until their authentication issues are resolved. I have logged a cancellation request with them and then got intimidated to rather stay with the clawback on the installation costs etc etc. Later I got a call offering me another month free.

I don't want free this or that. I want quality of service and it irks me that you pay the amounts that you do to an entity as large as MTN and receive poor service. I told them as much: they are super efficient at selling and taking your money but, as this thread also alludes, service support is not up to scratch.

Thinking I could expect quality of service from MTN was my mistake. Paying R2700-odd in clawbacks is cheap compared to time in frustration I've wasted over the past 2 weeks with them as my ISP.

Ouch.. Well I am on 38 days waiting to activate my line with them. The "Free" one since I all ready had everything installed...

Jus wanted PPPoE and ONT setup from their side. Still waiting.

To be fair ISPAfika never released my B number to the pool (Openserve). But that happened 5 February already.

Yeah think they are running into some "reality" problems. I have Metrofibre as main line, but wanted to

a) test Supersonic
b) get line back up (as backup)
c) test some bonding on my mikrotik..

Guess I will just wait for them to give up on me...

First LAN1 went offline (OS pushing new config) while PON stayed lit.

Now today PON flashing, reading it can't find the OLT...

So #progress but in the wrong direction..

Hope they get their stuff sorted. Competition is good, but yeah this has been bad month for them (and their customers).

I@Cavedog. In one of your threads you mention setting the DNS to auto if with Vumatel. At which point do you do this. Sorry not network savvy

DHCP if you are on Vumatel trenched. That means you would not select pppoe you would select the DHCP option under configure WAN. I will post a screenshot later tonight.
