MTN SuperSonic Feedback

Can i offer you a better deal?

LOL.. When people start peddling fibre deals in the "dark corners" of My Broadband forums...

Day 41 waiting for Supersonic to activate my line...

I asked Supersonic why I couldn't log into my router. Apparently the password changes every 48 hours "for security reasons".
So I asked how I was supposed to change settings, no they could do it for me....wtf.

You can follow my guide I posted in this thread. You can delete the certificates to gain full access to the router again and configure it as you want.

How goes the night time congestion with openserve?

on a side note, does anyone know if there is a way to view your usage with supersonic other than the routers UI? I can't find a portal to log in on thier website, I know it's not necessary as it's uncapped but I suppose it's just out of curiosity.

Unfortunately still congested. It's fine because after my ISPA complaint this month is free again and next month I get billed for a 40Mbps while having a 200Mbps line so I will manage. I have a Vox and Cybersmart backup account. One good thing about Openserve. They was supposed to get their IPC upgrades from Openserve last week but it did not happen. This week is past but same thing so hopefully next week. Can't wait to get my 200Mbps speeds back 24/7.

If you are on Openserve you can see the usage in the billing control panel when you login with your pppoe details. There is a usage section and billing section which allows you to pay for your fibre with credit card which is nice.

I don't think IPC has been upgraded yet but it's pretty speedy today

EDIT: Still going strong. Maybe it's the loadshedding but I hope they have gotten their IPC rate limit upgrades because it's flying on Openserve 200Mbps.

@Savy561

Yeah looks like they got their IPC rate limit upgrade finally. Been getting line speed today no matter what. Nice so glad it's finally fixed. So still free for me this month and then 40Mbps for next month the credits have already been passed on my account. Saw them listed under payments. I'm happy with that.

Are the ip addresses provided by supersonic static?

I have been up and running since the 7th and my ip address has not changed once, even during load shedding power cycles.

The reason I ask is because I use a smart dns service and on lte I had to update the ip address they had pn their system every 3 days or so but not anymore it seems.

No they aren't static but I think they have way more IP addresses available than customers so they don't change a lot.

The MTN business network is just amazing. Damn it works well and SOOOOO relieved they got their IPC rate limit increased.

Happy to hear you are finally up and running the way it should be:thumbsup:.

You certainly did have to go through your fair share of trouble to get it upgraded though.

True but that trouble did get noticed and did get me a discount for inconvenience so I'm happy with that. Cool Ideas also suffered with IPC congestion so it's a thing that is going to stay with everyone on Openserve unfortunately.

That said it's a pleasure all the Openserve people on Supersonic.

You are on Vumatel right? How has it been going Vumatel side?

So I finally got up and running with SuperSonic. They're a bit slow with their service at the moment.
Speedtest confirms slightly above the 20/20 I ordered.

Only problem is I cant get into the Zyxel router to change any settings. The password on the sticker on the back doesn't work, neither do any default passwords I found.....

Did you get this sorted? You just need to reset the router. Unplug the wan cable. Log in to the router and delete the certificates under security then you are good to go.

Yeah I am on vumatel and it's been great for the most part. I tried a few torrents this morning to test sunday torrents and it was jumping around from 300kbps to 1mbps so im not sure if there is some shaping going on there.

No shaping could be the torrent client hdd or the torrent itself

A month later, my line hasn't been cancelled. Was told i don't have to pay anything after cancelling during trial. Sandile from cancellations was supposed to call me about 2 weeks ago. Now i'm forced to continue using them because i can't get another provider till they release my line.
