MTN SuperSonic Feedback

Ok so I got it done after a second factory reset, dunno why it didn't work the first time.

Now how do I go about setting this up with vumatel as I only see pppoe settings under network settings?

edit: it seems to have automatically setup itself after about 10 min as I didn't change anything before it came on.

Thanks @wingnut771 for the assistance with this.

Sorry for the late reply. Did you get sorted?

Once you have reset it you need to select routing then IPoE which is Internet protocal over ethernet or DHCP. The only other option there is PPPoE.

Now that the certificates are deleted you would have full access to the router.

Also sorry for the late reply.

Yes I did get it sorted with the 2nd rest to factory default and now have access to the router. Thanks for the guide you posted as it really helped.:)

Doing some torrents downloads before the power goes off. :) :D

Still the same result, page wont load.
Ip address: 192.168.1.10
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1

With mine I noticed the admin page is on a different port. 8843 or something.
The router actually appears under 'Network' in explorer, when I clicked on that I get the admin page.
But I can't access it even if the wan cable is unplugged.
I'll try a factory reset sometime this weekend.

It's already locked. Once the router smells the internet it gets locked. So then you need to reset it to factory settings with wan port unplugged. Then you can delete the certificates which locks the UI then you can connect the wan port again.

Still all good this side. Glad I stuck with them. :)

Anyone else having some latency issue to international servers? My ping to New york is about 35ms higher than usual.Screenshot_20190324-135254.png

@Savy561 Which speedtest server?

I still get ~234ms to NYC

You need to do a trace route to see where the increased latency is coming from.

Tried multiple servers in NYC and london. All giving me about 30ms higher than usual with the exception of Johannesburg only.

I will do a traceroute now and post

here is a quick traceroute using windows cmd.

@Savy561 Those IPs even when I test on my side has lots and lots of packet loss.

Somethings not right but I don't think it's on Supersonics side. This is to Washington DC which is what I would expect.

What program are you using for your testing? I would like to compare the results.

And it's just back to normal again, 243ms to spectrum NYC:unsure:.

Something else I found interesting is that all servers I test in durban give me a ping of around 23ms while Johannesburg gives me 10ms and cape town 29ms. There is one exception in durban and that is mtn durban which gives me 3ms, funny that it's only mtn that gives me this result.

I assume it's just the routing of the traffic being routed somewhere else and not in durban but still interesting that Johannesburg gives me better ping than durban which is where I live.

Yeah MTN probably don't route it directly in Durban an instead take the traffic to JHB and back to Durban. Just routing that needs o be updated.

As for your latency I don't think it could be congestion related because then it would have gotten worse. Probably just a transit provider having issues.

Ohh and if you want decent torrent download speeds on public torrents may I suggest BitComet and you sign in with a free bitcomet id. That will give you access to LTS which is something unique to BitComet that puts them way ahead of everyone else otherwise you need to switch to a private torrent site for best speeds.

Hmm, bitcomet sounds interesting, I will install it tomorrow and check it out.

I previously used utorrent and downloads did max but after around 5mi, it doesn't really matter anymore as I use a smart dns service to bypass restrictions and actually just stream content legally. Of course there are still a few exceptions and torrenting comes in real handy.:)

Thanks @cavedog for the assistance.
Got my router unlocked. Just as well as my CCTV system is on a different subnet mask so I needed to change the routers settings.

On a side note my home network is getting hectic.
2 PPoe switches for the 8 camera CCTV system.
1 wifi printer, 1 network printer, 2 Pc's, 2 laptops, 1 extra switch for the PC's.
Amazon echo dot, Xiomi Mi Box, Samsung smart sound bar, 4 cell phones and an Ipad.
I think that's about it.
