full speed on FTP?
Yes. I have a seedbox and download via ftp and I get full speed on FTP no matter when I download. Doesn't seem like they are shaping FTP at all.

full speed on FTP?
I am not stupid! Why on a public holiday do you experience the same speed as per normal work day? PLEASE read my post before assuming I am a retard!
I think that a few years ago there were more business users than home users, so evening and weekends used to be quieter. With cheaper ADSL the ratio seems to have switched, and there is no such thing as 'off-peak' any more.
What are the speeds like on rapidshare (premium) with the mweb uncapped 384k?
Getting poor speeds on the mweb news server (3kb/s even after 11pm at night) and rapidshare free (2kb/s).
Browsing is fine but downloading is useless (rapidshare, news server)
the whole of Mweb seemed to go offline, capped accounts aswell.
surely they would only do that after hours, and not during business hours?
Free file sharing sites and free news servers (if content is uncached) are dog slow on any account. If you want a fast reliable download source, you have to pay up for it... or stick to p2p.
This is not true. I get full speed on the SAIX news server with my free Telkom local with my 384k line. And surely paying for a news server on am uncapped account would not help as it is the protocol that is shaped?
You get line speed if it is cached.
