No Data connection but full signal

I too have totally given up on Cell C. After 3 years of great service, my internet bandwidth went to zero overnight. It has now been like this for almost 4 weeks and I have had enough.

I also agree with other posters above. When you sell more bandwidth than you can deliver, there really is no "solution" to the problem. I will be cancelling my contract either today or tomorrow and converting my 2nd dongle over to 8ta, who have been great so far with genuine download speeds of up to 13mb/s and a very fast, smooth 3g experience.

Here we go... open your eyes CellC! you are losing them by the day...
The good old customers that stood by you for so long are all dropping you...
I hope that the loss of customers opens their eyes

Hi,

As cellc we don't want to loose clients and we are pushing our network team to do all they can to resolve the network queries logged and escalated them.

Dear CellC Rep, I would like to make the following obvious. I only registered on this forum due to getting tired of trying to discuss this issue with your technical help line. I would like to point out some very obvious matters here.

Most importantly would be the matter of transparency, I think you would be surprised at the sympathy reaction CellC would get from their most loyal customers if you would only just give us some idea what the issue is that is been so “escalated”. Let me give you a grand example :
For many years I have been playing a virtual universe game online which has existed for ten years and which costs to play every month. Two years ago this company was having some major issues serving the increase following, but instead of just telling the thousands of clients they have that the issue is been escalated, they went straight to the point and pointed out that their current servers and pipe could not handle the load and that in the in-trim they would have to allow limited access and try give everyone a turn, they also informed their clients that the ETA on the issue would only be resolved fully within 3 months, which did happen, and you know what, they did not loose any clients as mentally everyone knew what the issue was and was prepared and understood the problem.

Now lets look at this matter we as CellC customers are having, I mean its all here above, left and right on this forum. So lets get the facts before the rumors and this thing spirals out of control. I can think of the many many challenges your technical department could be facing.

Is it firmware on towers that is the problem.
Is there not enough routers and you waiting for stock from overseas.
Is the main terabyte pipe ( I would imagine you guys have some large pipes out) not enough and you waiting on a third party to install more.
Is CellC under Sabotage attack.
Is your technical department still trying to determine what the cause could be.
Is there perhaps some servers that have been compromised or even not working properly that have not been noticed.
Do the towers need more cells.

I could go on and on, but in the end this would not be the point, the point is transparency, feedback to the ones that are at the other end of your product expecting just a simple ETA or shock of the extent of the problem. You know there are some pretty intelligent people on this forum from just browsing around, who knows perhaps you could even find help right here if your technicians are not getting the head end of this problem. ( Yes I say this as most of us here, and from the emotion I have seen, feel like we part of a family here with CellC and do not want to see a good product like this go down in a sad way).

This post seems to long already, but may I add. You know South Africans are quite emotional about bandwidth in this country, it mostly stems from the monopoly abuse we all experienced in the past, but come what may, your product is a good one, one I would hate to see go down the road in the way it currently is.

Sigh.

Make this go away >

I think problem is complex. When you put infrastructure to stress, the weakest points become a problem and each area has its own problems. It is like putting stress on ESCOM, the entire grid can collapse. But more accurate picture gives PC with not enough amount of RAM. You get problems when system starts swapping to the hard drive. Still works, but it becomes slower. Application have numerous bugs, but it didn't show before, till now when system is exposed to swapping and nervous user reaction only makes situation worse.
The same is with real network. Technician try to tune-up the system, but under overload condition it is not the same as under normal load. In many cases it will demonstrate side effects. And you can't blame technicians for this mess. Mistake was made when putting system to the sudden stress, instead of applying progressive load. Cooperation between marketting and technical department is required to apply progressive load.

As you remember Cell C technical management successfuly deploying HSPA+ was forced to resign a year ago and shareholders were looking for a cure. Now they have briliant marketing personality on the top, but technical opinion was not heard. Thats a problem - lack of balance.

I'm so frustrated with this lack of progress ... CellC has gone from 'hero' to 'zero' in my books. From 'whooooosh' to 'shooooosh'!
I definitely won't bother buying another 12 month data deal from CellC after this debacle!

With all you people leaving, maybe my signal will improve

Sitting in Claremont with full signal + HSDPA - and no connectivity

Bars and 'H' are white on phone, only works when green.

Cell C, enough of all the excuses. What is the real truth behind the network issues.

I've become increasingly frustrated this past 5 weeks with the shambolic state of your network. 5 weeks & still no resolution. I tend to find all the Cell C excuses very hard to comprehend.

Dont u guys think its time to acknowlege & admit that its now become a national crisis & give us a specific timeframe as to when this ongoing problem could be resolved.

I'm currently on my 3rd ref.number & its almost become laughable now. Seriously Cell C, its not funny anymore. Do the honourable thing and be more transparant with us, the paying customers.

How is this not a major network crisis ?

Come on Cell C, sweeping it under the carpet is not going to help anymore.
We need answers, solutions & positive feedback.

May i also add, I had no internet connection from 9:30 pm last night until 9:30am this morning.Does Cell C still think this is a minor issue. Its getting from bad to worse as the days go by.

Have you PM'd the Cell_C rep on this forum? Or logged a complaint at Hello Peter?

I agree with you, Cell C's call centre is beyond a joke. However, the rep on this forum was outstanding in his service.

It's interesting that our problems started at about the same time. I would also like it if Cell C can be honest and transparent as to what the problem is.

He tries, but they have not resolved anything.

I honestly think its way beyond him. Its the big guys at Cell C that are living in self denial. There is much more to this, than what we are being told. Cell C needs to man up & admit its now a " National Network Crisis"

Life is a matter of principle. Thus far, i havnt seen any signs of that from Cell C.

Silverton x11 no problems so far.

However, when I go visit my father (close to Silver Lakes) I have CellC issues. Always at that specific location.

Everywhere else, no problem.

Yeah the issue could be isolated to a specific location.

I also find i have really bad signal where there are a lot of people - maybe if you live in a complex, that could also be a problem.

Full signal but zero data throughput about 2 km's from Cell-C's head office in Sandton. I have only used about 50mb of my 1Gb data bundle, not because I didn't want to but because I can't.

Having great prices means nothing if I can't use the product so will be porting back to MTN soon.

This also sums up my attitude perfectly. People are generally more willing to put up with sh*# when you let them know why and for how long. I am genuinely baffled that nobody at Cell C, either in store or on their technical support line, seems to have any idea that there is even an issue!

I find the Technical Support team really amusing. They blatantly pretend as if they havnt heard its now a National Network Crisis.
Instead they conveniently make you believe thats it an isolated incident related to the area you live in. Its become almost laughable, more like an April Fools joke.
