OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Good day Mr.Beep,

I sincerely hope that i am knocking the right door here. I have sent you a PM with all the account and contact details.
I currently have 2x 4mbps Gold Uncapped (original) and one 1x 4mbps Platinum Uncapped, Unshaped account.
Oh, and also one 1GB Anytime + 1GB Late Capped Unshaped account, used for testing purposes.

I have recently noticed a drastic decline in performance on all of the abovementioned accounts, bar the free 1GB acc.

Here is a breakdown of our current structure,
1 x 4MBps account for my use at home (*****@openweb.co.za) @R 738.00 Monthly
Latency has dropped - browsing speed slow - steam updates very very slow before 5pm.
Pings in games have increased from 40-50 up to 120-150 (at all times not just before 5pm)

1x4Mbps account (*****@openweb.co.za) @ R 738.00 Monthly, in use at the Office as primary Browsing.
Current speedtest.net reports 0.65Mbps on a 10M line!
Browsing speed extremely slow!!
Using test account (*****@openweb.adsl) speedtest.net reports speeds up to 9.5Mbps (ave about 8.5Mbps)

1 x 4Mbps Platinum (*****@openweb.co.za) in use at the Boss's house - primarily used for gaming (BF4) @ R 1 799.00 Monthly.
Packet loss reported 45-65%, slow browsing speed.
When switching to test account (*****@openweb.adsl) line is stable and ping stays below 40 -- no packet loss reported.
Packet loss tested with pingplotter pro as well as ingame performance test (bf4)
This is the most expensive account we have with you, it is used for the Boss's gaming at home, and he cant use it at the moment.
Pressure is on me to get this resolved for the Boss ASAP.


Please can you either assist me or point me in a direction where i could get some urgent assistance?

I'm still running an original gold uncapped unshaped account. Full line speed 24/7 on any protocol, no matter what the time of the day. Been a subscriber for 8 years now, don't see myself leaving for another ISP any time soon :)

With that said, it looks like I'm the only positive OW subscriber out there :(

My experience rocks too! But I'm on capped unshaped account. Still have 100 Gbs peak and 700 GB off peak to burn before month end, but there is no content really anymore.
 
So when will some of us realize that uncapped isn't really uncapped, opt for something else unless you are stuck with it for a month.
Moved from the so called home uncapped to priority capped, soooo much better than my Afrihost so called business account, it's a no brainer.

I would say leaving Openweb should be a no brainer. People moan about sub par speeds constantly but don't leave.

Welcome to the ISP of lies! Better of elsewhere m8 tbh.
 
Morning guys,

Well i must admit, i am very saddened by whats happened to OW.
I have been with them for quite a while and have not had any issues, up until now.
Waiting for their call i started scratching around on the net, and I am mortified at the general response to OW service.
Its been fun, but i guess its time to move on.

Still have not received a call from them, I had techies check my phones yesterday......cause i mean...The receptionist said my call was important and escalated to ...wait for it....Managerial level.....

Sad days indeed.

Im pretty sure someone else will be willing to accept my debit orders.

I sent my cancellation in a couple of days ago and haven't heard anything from them yet. I reckon after the next payment goes off amd I still didn't hear from them, I'm just going to block the stop order.
 
Well, think its time i do the same, over it, whats the point of paying for a service only to use a friends account friom another ISP ... pointless

Was thinking maybe this tactic was brought in to get red of customers, either to close down, or come up with another master plan to screw more people over

edit: wasn't there a loop hole for the 30day thing, sure i read something back in the day on this forum and topic

Well i noticed now that the network status is empty, that Windows Update notice is gone.

I didnt use my OW account for 3days so not sure if all is back to normal for me, will have a look tonight

haha :) well for now it's fine! getting full speed 24/7 :D but i have to admit my openweb account has been flying the last 24hours

Some feedback :

After eventually getting around to sending my cancellation letter yesterday, Dane from OW phoned me up, endeavored to resolve my issues, and ended up issuing me 3 x new accounts.
Tested the accounts since yesterday....and all seems well again.
