OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Doubt it. They got their new control panel up and running where you can manage your account. I would say it is similar to Webafrica but does not look the same at all. It does allow you to cancel or buy new accounts instantly via the control panel.

Np. 1st one is main screen. Second one is detailed usage of the account with graphs. Not so useful for me since it includes the uncapped afterhours usage aswell. The control panel does allow you to set a email for stats so you get a daily email that separates the usage.

I won't say it is great but it is definitely better than the garbage they had before.

ayyyy Keoma

Since moving to the home capped (from the uncapped) i havent had any issues.
I get full line speed day and night, so no complaints from my side.

Does anybody know if openweb gives out trial accounts so I can compare against current isp? And if the do how does it compare to the real thing?

If you sign up to OW please sign up using to an Uncapped account

Who is your current ISP? I know of a better one than OpenWeb to turn to which is 10000000% clearer:D.

Currently with Mweb on the premium 2Mbps. And I see the openweb has a news server so....

Yeah no more news server on MWEB, perhaps consider a 15GB Openweb capped account which is uncapped between 00h00 and 06h00, to use in conjunction with your MWEB account? http://openweb.co.za/home-capped-unshaped/

Or get a paid news server subscription?

Unfortunately Crystal Web don't offer lower capped accounts otherwise I would have recommended them being somewhat download-friendly, you could also try WebAfrica.

All these ISPs are IS so have access to the IS news server.

Do you have uncapped? Is your line included?

Just remember if you want better you might have to pay more. Go back a few pages and read. 99.9999% guaranteed that you will have issues.

OW have the normal IS news server, which all IS based accounts have access to.

What line you got and what account? If it is uncapped yeah it is not good at all not matter how low they drop the price. I suggest going for a decent unshaped capped account.

I'm running a 1mb gold account on 2mb line speed somehow I was avg. 200kbps.
Anyone know if Crystal Web gives free trial accounts and which do you recommend I avg about 150GB per month.

They have a trail account. Best to go to crystalweb.co.za, in the RH bottom corner you'll see the blue Live Chat bubble, click it and they'll get you on the right package.

Mod_note: These threads are clearly designed/intended for customers to provide feedback to their respective ISPs - not for disgruntled former customers to vent, not for other ISPs to promote their services, etc - and, one hopes, for the relevant ISP to respond.

It seems there are people camping on this thread solely to discredit Openweb and recommend other ISPs. This goes against the policy of this thread

This thread serves as a warning to potential customers and highlights the unscrupulous business practices of OW

Incorrect. People are fed up paying premium prices yet receiving the opposite in terms of service/ products.
South Africans in general are fed up at everything they paying too much of and receiving below par services.
I see nothing wrong with discrediting a ISP which once was number 1. Maybe they needed this bad publicity in order to fix their house!
