BBM for Android, iPhone arrives

I find no problem with this. It works perfectly. I must still test if it works without the notificaiton icon in the task bar, but for now I'm happy.

The only contacts I plan on loading are ones are those of the disposable variety. Everyone else remains on whatsapp.

The benefit of BBM is that its tied to a single PIN which is tied to your BB ID email address. A year or so ago I needed a microSIM so I got a dual SIM on my contract however everyone I Whatsapped didn't know who I was. But now I can use my Nexus or my Q10 or my Z10 and everyone will be able to contact me and know who I am.

Mark my words, all the haters will be converted within 3-6 months.....

Good to see that "R" - for read - again.

so if you have a blackberry pin already from another phone, is there anyway to get around the "holding you spot in the line" page? i've tried using my pin and my email address on the blackberry but neither seem to get past that screen.

I used a friend's Apple ID to download the app that was already registered and my email for BBM ID and got the email instantly.

BBM will prove the death knell for many IM's, whatsapp including...just a matter of time.

I think you are being a bit of a BBM fanboi - i got BBM early this morning. First time i am using BBM....played around with it a bit, added a few friends. I'm not impressed - I FAR prefer WhatsApp, I don't think BBM will stay on my Samsung SIII much longer...it will more than likely get deleted before the end of the week.

Yeah, I figure the people that left BB devices and came to the android/iOS side will use this app to re-connect or find comfort in the familiar or whatever, and those of use that never had a hard on for BB and BBM will just carry on the way we do now. Upshot is that the BBM fans will continue running both BBM and whatsapp - just on a different (non-BB) device.

Yeah whatsapp will remain my personal preference as well. If only there was a way to get rid of that last seen status update.
