BBM for Android, iPhone arrives

Those of you who prefer Whatsapp I would really like to hear why. You say BBM wont stay on your device, but I want to hear your reasons.
It has already been brought up that you can't share pics in groups with the Android version. But whatelse?

Primarily because everyone I know have started using WhatsApp. It has become the de facto IM client. So it seems unnecessary to get everyone to switch to a new IM service for no compelling reason. I also imagine that, given the choice, most people would prefer to use a single IM service to better keep everything in one place. At the moment, WhatsApp is this app.

Another reason is that BlackBerry has a very uncertain future. People also lost faith in the service after the previous failed launch.

Ok been using BBM since this morning on my Note2 and its very smooth , no issues, no crashes. I also just got all my contacts and groups back when i put in my BB ID . Its exactly like the bbm app on the Z10. all and all I been having a great experience on it so far.
And i love the blackberry emoticons, way better than the Whats app ones.

I didn't wait for an email, just downloaded from Samsung app store and its working fine.

I also don't have random strangers / spammers contacting me over whatsapp.

I do however get occasional sms spam.

I don't know how long I've used whatsapp, but I've had one random stranger contact me via it. Turns out she had the wrong number. Oh, we're still in touch if that helps?

Then I'm afraid that notification will remain- poorly coded app. Not sure if this works in 4.1.2, but perhaps try:

Settings - Apps - All - BBM - Uncheck the "Show Notifications" tickbox, if available.

The thing is it does seem to work when I disable the notification, I just wondered if anyone else is having trouble when this is disabled.

Dafuq? :wtf:

I did the same and I have to wait for a mail :(

I downloaded last night, told me I'm in the queue after I entered my email address. Logged off and on again, entered same email address, told me I'm good to go and it continued to set up with my pin and username all generated and in place.

That was last night. I had a pin and it told me it was working.

Got the email today at 12.22pm that "congratulations, I'm at the front of the queue, follow these steps...." :D

That was 14 hours later after it was activated and running.

Now the only person I know with a BB is my daughter, so I only got the chance to test it properly after I added her this afternoon about 3pm after school finished and the email had arrived, but maybe try closing and opening the app and entering your email address a few times any way.

Downloaded it and added my email to the queue at 1130 last night. Hadn't received an email by this morning so I tried a different email address. Still haven't received an email back and it is now 4:20. I had a feeling they would manage to cock up the roll out again.

The email they sent me went into my Gmail spam folder, in case someone wants to check there for theirs.

You'd be surprised ;)

I'm not surprised by the millions of downloads, because it's probably people who have never bothered who want to find out what the real fuss is about.

But in actual daily usage I'll be very surprised if people start switching back to this.

Checked it a couple of times. Still empty. Not sure I want to try again with my Gmail account in case it sends me to the back of the queue. It would be splendid if they showed you roughly where in the queue you were.
