Home-Connect ISP Feedback

To anyone interested in going with home connect. Stay away!
You may need to be more specific. I use them because they offered considerably better pricing on the 200Mbps than the others and so I've been able to tolerate one or two hiccups as a trade-off. Their router has given very good Wi-Fi in my house and the app is useful

Le-support: "No, we're going home now its almost 10pm!"

I suggest you call in speak to a gent called Thabiso he is the team leader he is a real stand up guy and he will sort it out for you ASAP and take the one responsible to task.

Staff do take short cuts but it is not allowed and i will take it up with them if i am you.

I was a bit disappointed last week. Fibre went down and HC would not acknowledge there was a problem. Support seemed unaware that Frogfoot had flagged an issue, and the communication re the outage went out 3 hours after it was received and 2 hours after the issue was resolved.

Funny how when I cancelled on them they could not stop calling trying to respond to the unanswered support tickets logged for poor service months ago... Now that I am trying to conclude and close everything out before the service ends, I get different stories from each department. So disorganized and uncoordinated. Can't wait to move on.

That's exactly my experience of them. Chaotic operations.

Now with the service due to end, I log a ticket via the client portal last week to make sure their systems are updated for the cancellation to proceed and that I won't be billed again (they bill in advance), 3 days later someone replies and confirms there are no penalties (which there should not be anyway). I then reply on Thursday last week to ask that they don't bill me again - its now a week later and the only progress made was getting a response that there will be no penalties. trying to cancel this service is as bad as cancelling something with Telkom. I've tried to call but you keep getting transferred from pillar to post or just get cut off. And as per my worry - I received another invoice... What a nightmare - I massive regret going with them as its been a year of no support and poor service.

I was on 100/100 HC with the Tenda router and it was going pretty well. I thought for the price I'd like to upgarde to 200/200, which necessitated a new router - the Huawei WS5200.

Now my transfer speeds are much worse than before (on wifi).

a) I know that ideally I'd be using ethernet, but that isn't my use case
b) If I take my laptop to stand just by the router, I can download at around 160Mbps which is good, but it isn't sustained, it drops off a lot (unlike before)
c) My PC is about 10m away and uses a PCI wifi card. That is getting 30Mbps downloads (was about 90 Mbps before)

So I will go back to how things were before. Anyone got any insight to add about the router or anything else?

What was your need in wanting to upgrade?
100mb is already damn fast.

The WS5200 is for me a better router, quick question did you download the mobile up and "remove interference"?

I get a better output on the WS5200 then on the Tenda to be honest

Maybe it is just some fine tuning also make sure transmitting is on highest setting
