Is R5900 to my door + customs a "never before" price or just OK? What is specials history (I have read through this thread and have not seen any better deals in the previous posts)

That's a good price. I'm not seeing it on the Gearbest site, so I'm wondering if it is some sort of personal discount?

Personalised email - link only works for my account (I tested using an incognito tab): OnePlus5T.jpg

Hey guys :)
Literally my 1st post on the forum. Have been following the thread for quite some time and convinced me to buy the OnePlus 5T from Gearbest.

The order arrived at JHB customs on Friday - have not gotten an invoice from them for clearance payment. This evening I saw that it was 'cleared from customs' and currently 'in transit'. :wtf:

I was under the impression that I would have to make a payment. Can anyone please confirm if I got lucky or should I contact them?

Contact them and ask them to confirm the item is in SA before paying the customs. I ordered a OP5T from Gearbest too and I'm fighting with them now because the tracking number says the parcel is in SA but they haven't received the physical package. They're busy investigating but I'm pretty sure it's been stolen. :(

Yeah I was at the local Aramex branch yesterday. Saw on their system it was in JHB. The supervisor emailed them requesting them to send the invoice to me. Until now, have received nothing.

Dont want them withholding if there is a problem somehow :(

There will be some customs duties due before it gets to you. Friendly bet says your next Aramex tracking status will be "On Hold - Payment not ready" at which point you can expect an invoice. Probably tomorrow....

I also suspect this but seeing the "cleared at customs" had me wondering..

All, I want to order some Dbrand skins, going to get one for my Note8 and pre-order for the S9+. If anyone wants to go in with me, the shipping (using a courier not post office) will be much less. Let me know, I'll order by end of business tomorrow. Let me know.

Picked up a midnight black 128Gb in India today for around R7100 from a brick and mortar store.

Couldn't find any official accessories sadly.

Can't wait to land in SA to set her up whoop.

Serious question: Is the OnePlus 5T worth 2x the price of the Xiaomi Mi A1 I currently have? I know it has a flagship processor and dash charge but how is the camera - GSMArena weren't so positive about photo results...

I see the black 6Gb/64GB is on special again from Gearbest for $506 with Priority Line which will be R6k plus a bit of customs....

I've only had my Mi A1 for a week, but the R/$ is causing problems with my shopping finger.....
Hows the A1 was considering the 5t but the A1 is much much easier on the wallet lol

For R3.3k, it is so good, I just cannot justify spending double that on a OnePlus 5T (and even more to get the Lava Red to match my Red Mi A1). Battery life is very good with extremely low standby draw (2-3% overnight with WIFI, GPS and Mobile Data + dual sims all on). The camera is really great in day time shots (I never snap at night, so typical lowlight Xiaomi issues do not concern me) and the phone is blazingly quick and smooth when switching Apps. I have left 5 heavy tabs open in Chrome for several hours while using other Apps and when I went back, every single page was still in memory - zero refreshing which is great!

I initially used the phone with a hard clear Polycarb cover which gave me piece of mind but ruined the experience. Naked, the phone just feels so premium as it is the thinnest phone I have ever owned and the back anodising feels awesome to hold. It is slippery, but if it ends in tears, I have free insurance cover on my policy so I'll just order another one. If I broke it, would I order again or the 5T? Until OnePlus gives their device a proper flagship camera, I just can't justify the extra R3-4k on it. The Snapdragon 835 would be wasted on me as I do not game at all and the 625 in my Mi A1 is more than enough for my needs.....

OnePlus 5T looks amazing, but the non-flagship grade camera sent me straight back to my bang-for-buck Xiaomi

Wow Thanks for the detailed response. At the moment gearbest has the A1 for $209.99 so around R2500.00 which seems a great price. I like the face that it's stock. I currently have mi note 3 with 2gb ram and I find it lagging from time to time so I feel that the A1 can sort me out at a good price.

Oh wow, that's pretty awesome!! Decent enough price too!!! But the most significant take away for Oneplus owners is that there now must be local support available?!
Unfortunately not, I opened the link and it says it's the US version, parallel import.
