The Official 3G Iphone Thread

I was quite excited about the prospect of getting an iPhone 3G - until I found out that the following:
1) It cannot send an MMS - bad news for me as I take enough pictures to warrant me now 'NEEDING' MMS. It seems like MMS has been here for years, so why it cannot send or receive MMS is baffling
2) It cannot take Videos. Unbelievable. In the youtube age, you are a no one if you cannot whip out the camera and take a quick video!
3) Most importantly (esp in SA) It cannot be used as a modem. There was some software which allowed you to use it's borked bluetooth stack to be able to transfer data from the HSDPA connection to a computer, but now it seems that it has been pulled thanks to AT&T.

Basics apple... Basics....

I think I will wait for the next generation - my N82 is doing everything I need... just missing a touch screen interface.

LOL.... Vodacom and the whole telecoms in this country is ridiculous... i mean ffs, Honduras are getting theirs before us.

WELL DONE VODACOM! WELL DONE!

To be fair there is only one Vodafone country getting it then and that's India, Vodafone India probably don't want to be beat by Airtel.

So you think that somehow Vodacom is responsible for Apple not releasing it here yet ?

Well anyway... looks like the iPhone is not immune to TAT (Typical Africa Time) we will get it when Vodacom is ready I suppose TIA, TIA

it can do 1 and 2 through apps. The 3rd one it can't and im pissed at that but not that much seeing that I have a 1mb connection.

Vodafone to be exact but Vodacom also delays and delays and don't give any info whereas all the other countries that hasn't launched yet has already given package prices with the iphone, vodacom has done nothing.

dont worry about my money, I got lots of it.
And about not being able to keep up with the demand, we will be able to help you out there soon

As noted in the post below - the WE - just reeks of dodge and has the phone not been delivered yet?

Freudian Slip there perhaps?

PPL please note what he said here...

"And about not being able to keep up with the demand, WE will be able to help you out there soon...

Glad to see the truth came out... Clearly you are him, or scamming with him.

LOL

Mmm...

I'm so tempted to cancel my contracts with Vodacom for keeping us in the dark :(. Pitty vodacom3g hasn't been on to tell us more.. he was supposed to be back on August 4th as far as I know

rendier how much for a 16gig white? cant wait for vodacom any longer

16Gb's are crazy. R10000

Rather get one of the 8Gb's from me. Worth it. Never gonna fill your phone with 16gb's of stuff and even if you do the phone will be verrrry slow.

Got this mail today...

We are pleased to inform you that the new iPhone 3G is expected to be available sometime between the end of August and the beginning of September 2008.

We await final confirmation from Vodacom on the official launch date and pricing of the iPhone 3G. We will be sure to inform you as soon as we receive final confirmation.
