DStv Now explains low-quality RWC streams

Because DSTV sells a 2.5kg packet of sugar, charge you a fortune, and when you get home the packet of sugar only weighs 1.8 kg.

What has bandwidth got to do with it, I pay for my bandwidth, not DSTV. I pay for NetFlix and Amazon Prime TV. Both deliver, despite not being local. DSTV cannot DELIVER. Period.

Your argument is problematic. The DSTV Now service has a streaming limit per account. If Multichoice are unable to meet the demand they need to either scale their infrastructure, reduce this limit or exit the market.
 
And yet SA Rugby still gives the exclusive licence to these f__kers for internet streaming, despite the fact that they are clearly incompetent.

They would make an absolute killing if they simply embedded their adverts into the stream, then put it on Youtube.

It is a shame NAPAfrica doesn't provide weekly traffic graphs anymore. It would have been great to see if the traffic did spike...

Netflix recommends 5Mbps for 1080p and 3Mbps for 720p.

MultiChoce have 4 x 100Gbps links to NAPAfrica.
I assume that they stream from their offices via these links.
This will allow them to steam about 80,000 x 1080p streams or 136,000 x 720p streams.
If they streamed from teraco as you suggested, this limit would be removed.
 
I found that streaming via DSTV now website on my laptop was much better than the DSTV Now app on my android box, so I just connected hdmi cable to my TV and not once did it buffer or drop in quality
 
So I'll repeat what has already been said - DSTV streaming sucks big time. I've done hundred of comparisons between dstv and other live streaming service and dstv always performs like it a primary school project. One scenario that I often tested was comparing the same stream via different providers. One such stream is MotoGP. You can stream this live with multiple views at the same time directly from motogp.com. Flawless. Do the same with dstv which only has one view and it is like comparing 1980 VGA with 2019 UHD.

DSTV Now has always felt like it was 15 fps to me, when a cricket ball flies across the screen, you see every 2nd frame is missing, really cheap kak looking streaming
