MTN SuperSonic Feedback

@cavedog when you used the huawei b618 with your fibre, did the lan light blink constantly?

switching back to the huawei b618 as the zyxel just wont let me use my smart dns properly. fast router but not everything functions properly.

Yes it will blink constantly even if you use no data. That blinking means an active internet connection.

If you have a B618 supplied by Rain it should have build in voip and vpn also enabled.

Thanks for the info. Switched back to the b618 and dns works perfectly again so it seems this ZYXEL router is more trouble than it's worth.

So I requested a upgrade on my package from a 10mb to a 25mb, How long is this process suppose to take? Network is MetroFibre. My understanding is that is should not take 5 days to happen, I have phoned numerouis times and they cant help me. Today they said it will happen within in 24 hours... but i am not sure.

Should I log a complain with the ISPA, and what is the turn around time when the complain is logged?

I think it depends on the network provider. ISPA has a 5 working day turnaround time but they usually respond in 1 day or less.

@cavedog you still on supersonic and are they still treating you well? Do you have multiple providers, being on OS?

Still on Supersonic still full speed all the way. I have cancelled my extra accounts. Basically just keeping the Vox one going because it's the 400GB special for R170 but I'm always on my Supersonic account. Only account that gives me the lowest and stable latency for gaming.

If something is wrong I will be the first to post here but it's been nothing less than epic.

ok cool

You switching to Supersonic? :)
No, just like to keep up with who's good and who's bad incase CI implodes I tried to ask their WhatsApp support if MTN is planning on increasing their max line speed from 100mb and they responded simply telling me I can get 100mb - clearly not even reading my question properly.. can't say I expected any better but it is disappointing

Haha okay. Yeah all good my side still. My latency to London has lowered a bit from 166ms to 162ms so not sure what changed there but I'm not complaining :)

Just need to get my hands on a reliable router. The Zyxel, TP Link and B618 just isn't working for me. I want to get a reliable 1Gbps router but those are hard to find.

Mikrotik or Ubiquity..

Or maybe get the following (pretty happy with it as just an AP, using Mikrotik 2011 for the routing and Fibre part) :

Scoop dot co dot za Tenda AC10

I saw the Tenda AC11 on banggood which is a newer version and stronger chip than the locally available AC10. Will have a look around and see.

only problem i had with this was a 200mb/s limit with qos enabled, as ping jumps without it enabled while doing speedtests etc, so ended up downgrading from 1000 to 100mb, so I can get value for money and stay within the hardware parameters.

I see a lot of routers even though they are 1Gbps they aren't really up for the challenge. The only reliable solution I found thus far was leaving the Zyxel in bridge mode with wifi and everything disabled and dialing the pppoe session on each device which is not ideal but reliable.

So been using the Tenda AC10 and it's so much more reliable than the others I used. Wifi is still pretty much the same.

Still flying this side. :giggle:

US and UK speeds slower than usual but still okay. :)

I'm looking at fibre stuck between cool ideas, home connect, Web squad or supersonic... I'm using SADV
Which would be best? Anyone switch to supersonic from the ones above?
