Anyone on here that use 10MB 450Gb Home capped package? Can you perhaps advise how the performance is? Is HTTP downloads really shaped on a capped product?
You're better off going for an ISP that does not shape capped data.

Nah talking about standard HTTP downloads say for intance an ISO from the Microsoft website? Screw torrents.. i'll stick with NNTP downloads between 12am-6am.

Hi Al
Al
Please advise how I signup using SSL? Your website doesn't seem to initiate an SSL page when capturing my data?

SSL certificate has been removed temporarily on the website but should be back on soonManagement just confirmed this
Al
Surely you should disable signups and logins until then?

It is upto individuals to choose whether to use it or not![]()

Hi All
I was in the process of signing up to Crystal Web for an account. Please note that their website (despite having COMODO Secure seal at the bottom) is not enabled for SSL. I initiated a chat session and apparently it is disabled. I am not comfortable with entering my ID number and other private details etc on a non-secure site so I will wait until they have decided to take security seriously.
As per their chat session (which is a concern) :
Ordinary HTTP downloads like that are not shaped.

Standard HTTP is shaped/throttled.
Was travelling yesterday, but have responded. Apologies for the delay there.

Hmm, Used to be enabled if i remember correctly.
CW, Can you re enable this as some people are quite security concious?
Took it off. There were some URL problems. We'll have it back up soon and we're working on this today. May need to point the site elsewhere temporarily to get it back up, and I have a meeting at 10am about this. Hoping to get it sorted today still.
You have clearly stated that large http downloads will be shaped.
So maybe you should now start creating a scale for people to understand what is large and what is small?
Home capped is offered as an unshaped service by default, however general network management may result in peer to peer and NNTP protocol speeds being affected during business hours, to ensure that business account holders obtain priority access to the bandwidth they are paying for. We also provision free gigs to use from midnight to 6am to encourage you to schedule your large downloads during this off peak time, to help us deliver a superlative experience at all times. We suggest scheduling things like peer to peer, NNTP, and large gaming updates and downloads for these time-periods. While it is not necessary for you to do so, it does help us to manage the network capacity far easier, and to keep our costs to you down, as well as ensure that in future, we can continue to reduce costs to you. It also ensures that you take full advantage of your free gigs, and makes more anytime data available to you. This service can be cancelled or downgraded with one month's calendar notice supplied.
Having not been a customer for some time I'm not sure how you know this, but it's not the case. Standard HTTP is not shaped. And we offer a range of capped products, some shape some protocols, others don't shape anything at all.
It's probably best that you leave intricate account performance questions to us to answer, as from what I'm aware you haven't used Crystal Web in months since you parted on bad ways with us.
I really think that you should read our FAQ properly.
Why would I need to read a FAQ when you guys have publicly stated what I have said in here multiple times?

So putting your existing and future customers at risk is acceptable even temporarily to Crystal Web? Remove the seal and warn your users! Go consult your legal director. Some of your customers are not technically savvy and you are putting them at risk with no SSL and showing a seal etc.
Was an oversight on my part. Seal removed now.
Thanks.
