Gratz!! Mind sharing cost and channel through which you purchased it?

Sure. I bought it online on the US store - I had to use a VPN. I'm getting it delivered to my New York Aramex personal shopper address. From there it'll be couriered to my SA address.

I'm not 100% sure what the final costs will be. I got the 128GB phone variant with the early bird bundle (case and screen protector) which was $591.59. Shipping and tax/customs charges will probably be around R2000.

I tried to purchase the OnePlus 5T on oneplus.net/uk today. I want to have it delivered to a relative in the UK. After about two hours of trying I gave up. Paypal is the only payment method available.

As https://oneplus.net/uk/ does not accept a billing address outside of the UK, and the billing address on the order has to correspond with the billing address of the card in Paypal, it is impossible to successfully place an order.

This has been quite disappointing. Does anyone know about a workaround? Would a virtual credit card with Paypal do the trick?

I never had any such issue. My billing address corresponded to the card details in SA and the delivery address in the UK was a separate thing. Had no issue buying my OP5 in June on oneplus.net, and I don't think it went through PayPal. Would be a shame if they've changed things. Perhaps check if you have limits active for your card that are preventing the purchase, unless you mean you're getting an explicit message on the site.

Thought I'd just post my excitement on here.... I just ordered my OnePlus 5T and I cannot bloody wait to get it (DHL, so probably next week) :D
It's been years since I've had a proper flagship device, currently being annoyed to all hell and back by my Samsung Galaxy A5 after having to do an impulse contract buy with Vodacom when my Huawei Mate 7 got stolen a year or so ago.

Things I'm most excited about:
-> The almost stock Android experience with improvements on top, most notably the option for the Dark Theme (white on black). I've been missing that ever since my Galaxy S3 years ago with Cyanogenmod.
-> The fingerprint scanner at the back (my mate 7 had this and it was a joy to use, definitely the best place to put it)
-> The amazing AMOLED screen
-> The blistering performance, probably my top gripe currently
-> The face unlock. Don't care that it's not as secure as the iPhone X, more than good enough for me and every review I've read is praising how well it works.

Note: My girlfriend has a OnePlus 3, the took the cover off a week ago and I think that's what actually pushed me over the edge.
Jirre these phones look and feel amazing.

haha ... yeah ... All. Over.
:D
Lmao nice. I can't afford a new phone now. I'm actually bored of it all working in Cellular, and having had so many different phones every week and every month lol..

But I'm hoping to try and set up some meetings with OnePlus, to see if we can sell their devices in our stores. Might be tough as they not really one for going that route

Yeah it's a tough call spending these amounts of cash on something you know you'll just get used to in a little while.
But I got some unexpected money back from an insurance excess claim in the beginning of the year and when I add that to the price of the OP5T it's a no-brainer.

One thing I've realized is that smartphones are only really awesome if you have something that's decent... anything less and a smartphone can be a real pain in the ass.

Nah you will only really feel happy, if you come from a device that's about 4 or 5 years old. I think that upgrading after 2 years is a bit too quick, in some instances guys change after a year. Most times the newer device is hardly much of an upgrade, so you like sit there and then think was it actually worth the change.

Congrats!! What? Where? and how much?

5T is an awesome device!! I used a Samsung A5 last year for a bit, got it on the MTN Monday Madness 50gb promo!! What a horrible experience that turned out to be?!! Actually got a 3T soon after and sold the A5! The 3T makes it look stupid, can only imagine how the 5T is going to feel for you, coming from the A5!!

Recently got the 5 and could kick myself for giving into impulsivity and not waiting for the 5T! 5 is a brilliant device though!! fingerprint scanner is amazingly quick and responsive!! Apparently face unlock works really well too!!!

Enjoy!!!

Weird. They accept Credit card. You can chose between Cc and PayPal.

Thanks man!
So I got the phone off Gearbest for R7986.59... add to that R540 for UPS Expedited shipping and hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week or early next week.
Calculating a worst case of about R1200 for customs clearance and the fact that I got R3000 back from an insurance excess claim about a year ago the phone effectively is going to cost me less than the already cheap $500.

Pretty annoying for existing OP5 owners that the 5T was released so soon afterwards... I'm of course just glad I didn't buy something sooner.
Also, can't wait for the option to do dual-sim on this thing since I'm with Vodacom. The potential data savings in the next two or so years will probably already make up for the cost of the phone.

I just received mine yesterday - what an absolutely incredible phone for the price.

Will take time getting used to the size after moving from an iPhone 6s, but i've been very impressed so far.

Eish, my shipment finally started moving after ordering last week...
Looks like I'll be coming into the office on my Holiday next week.
The wait is killing me.

The good new is customs was only R320... :D

P.S. So with those amounts and my R3K insurance rebate I'm effectively paying R5846.59 for the 5T.... not bad at all.

I'd actually prefer the OP5 for the secondary telephoto camera being more useful, but it's hardly cheaper than the OP5T for some reason???

Key question, do we wait for No. 1 to be recalled in the hope the rand strengthens against the dollar before ordering?

The other question: if one chooses expedited shipping on GearBest.com, does one then get to select between EMS and DHL? EMS seems to have the same delivery speed as Priority line shipping. I'm tending towards priority line as the cost of expedited shipping seems quite high.
