Parkrun

Another parkrun opened this morning, number 62 in SA, at Kraalkop Nature Reserve.

Kraalkop is between Fochville and Carltonville just off the N12.

There were 142 runners/walkers. The course is on gravel roads, one lap. The first 2km is up hill a climb of 76 metres. 1km fairly flat and then 2km down to the finish.

Expect to see zebra, giraffe and wildebeest. Several runners had to give way to animals crossing their path.

Probably the only parkrun in the world that one can see such an assortment of game.

Next week Number 63 at Langebaan opens: http://www.parkrun.co.za/langebaan/course/

Then no new ones until October.

Might give Langebaan a try next time I am on the West Coast. The Route 44 one is just way too overcrowded right now and put me off parkrun for a while.

Work off your festive season excesses at parkrun.

They are Xmas Day and New years Day parkruns all over the Country.

Check here for details : http://www.parkrun.co.za/christmas-compendium/

My family will be going to Delta, and having a picnic breakfast afterwards.

Don't forget to to take your barcode.

My next parkrun will be the Bellville one. Just got too damn crowded at Route 44. This Saturday the plan is to cycle 100 miles to the West Coast instead of running.

I did my first parkrun in 45 minutes this weekend.
I really enjoyed it, time to smash it and get fitter, anyone else here still do parkrun?

I think there will be a few people on here that does it. I started volunteering now as well. Mainly setup and tail walking when I am injured.

Who else does this from time to time?

I have done three and the vibe seems nice and relaxed, considering it is only 5km it does look like a nice and more social way of doing a workout.
My friend does the park run in around 25 to 26 minutes and he is 59 years old.

Used to do Bellville but now hectic overcrowded. Instruction not to have dogs there any longer recently received.

40000 people every week at over 200 events all over the Country. New ones opening virtually every week.

Which one did you do?

Hoping to do my first one on the 22nd of June (busy every Saturday until then). Woodlands still a good option?
