Did you receive my reply??

Yes I did thanks....and yes I am in fact Ockie lol

Even though your speed has improved....it may not mean that the fault has been resolved as you said the previous times your speed was ok for a day or two and then toppled over again....so lets wait for them to give feedback and resolution.

Still holding up so far ...

:D

Well, I am sorry to report that, once again, the euphoria only lasted for about 48 hours, as the speeds are back to a trickle!!

This problem has been going on continuously for nearly THREE WEEKS!!!!!!!

Hi Steinie. I have checked on the SR and they have been in contact with you.

CALL - OUTBOUND Called Mr xxxxxxx on xxxxxxxx and he advised that he has been struggling to get adequate 3G signal for the past three weeks. Advised the customer we are liaising with Network and will provide feedback to him. the customer is happy with the response. There is a pending SR for the same problem: xxxxxxxx . requsted an update on this SR.

Thanks, Ockie. I did receive your e-mail in this regard.

Speeds seem to have picked up in the last 30 minutes. I'll keep on checking and providing you with feedback.

I bumped into a friend, who lives down the road, this morning and he confirmed that his experience with VC over this period has been exactly the same as mine.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Oops! Looks like I spoke too soon! Back to dial-up speeds!!

Update: This morning, two people from VC visited me to do "tests". They used a cellphone to check signal strength and the VC speed test to check speeds.

They were rather embarrassed when I opened up the MDMA app and showed them that the signal strength is actually -65 dbm and not "5 bars"!!

I was about to demonstrate the extremely poor d/l speed, when Murphy's Law took over. The Speedtest.net test showed great speeds! Just my luck. They had hardly left the premises, when the speeds dropped down to a trickle, once again.

So, TWENTY ONE DAYS later and still no joy from Vodacom. And the new CEO has not, as yet, had the common decency to respond to my e-mail.

Should I "escalate" this to Jacob Zuma? :erm:

VodacomData, you have been conspicuous in your absence, sir!

Still no improvement in speed ... hovering around the 5 KB/s, at best!!

I have been experiencing similar results in the last 3 weeks. Speeds ranges from 1-5 KB/s. DNS timeouts etc. Was having no issues prior.

1) Location: Sterrewag (Pretoria)
2) Time of issue: last 3 weeks
3) Device: Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA Mini-card
4) Contract Type : contract
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: None
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible): Getting an error message that some file is not on the server...

I am at my wit's end! Even e-mails to the CEO have not helped, except for one or two calls advising me that the complaints has been "escalated" (how I HATE that word!) to the Networks people.

And, that's it! Not a single call or any other form of feedback today! :(

EISH!!!!!

Endless headaches with SLOW internet.....

Man, i have such a headache sukkeling with the internet. I have an E620 on prepaid with over 2GB left... wait for this... wait.. i have 4 out of 5 bars HSDPA (tested stable -77dBm) signal but i get only a whopping mind blowing 58kbps to max (peak) 256kbps.

i have tried everything i could think off, everything i could get on the net... but still MY VODACOM INTERNET IS USELESS!!!!

i have an online business to run and just like everybody else i have bills to pay!!! But this is bringing my whole business ... and livelihood to a screeching halt.

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My signal will be 2 out of 5 bars for a week with up to 1.2mb speed just to disappear in an wink of an eye... or like this week, signal disappear... poof, just like that!

Today after pulling my hair out i got it set up to -71dBm 4 out of 5 Vodacom-SA HSPDA........but still with NO SPEED (ave 45kbps)!!!!!

What is going on? How can i get this sorted?

i gave up on calling call centers long ago cause they are useless (ok granted only sometimes) too many times i ended up with someone on the "technical side of things" that has no idea what i am talking about cause their "expertise" stretches only as far as the answers on the computer screen in front of them)

Any ADVICE?!?!? PLEASE!!

i am so frustrated today with this i cant even speak English deliciously :wtf:

Ever thought of ADSL?

Day #23 has come and gone ... and not a peep from Vodacom!! I believe that my e-mails to the CEO are being intercepted by his staff, and for good reasons too!

How can a company like VC afford to allow a major problem (in the middle of the biggest city!) to go on unresolved for such a long period? The mind boggles at the sheer ineptitude and apathy!

What else can I do to attract the CEO's attention?

Anyone?

Jip I did, several times but there is 3 things making it very difficult
1) The area i live (just outside Hartbeespoort) is cable theft highway
2) I have to then deal with Telkom again (a real sage on its own)
3) and i will loose my mobility.

i have investigated a few other option before as well like satellite (inmarsat) -waaaaay tooooo expensive, alternative broadband in local area... this was not too bad and not too slow at all i had a dedicated 256 that felt like a jetfighter compared to the 7.2(supposedly) i have now but when this network was down...oh boy... if ur lucky it will be up in about a week..or 3.

'sigh' so ja - i am running out of options.... i just wish i knew what is causingthis!!!

thaks for the reply though

Speeds started picking up on Friday afternoon and were great on Saturday and Sunday.

Since lunchtime, today (Monday) the speeds have been all over the place, but mostly on the SLOW side.

I cannot, for instance watch a Youtube video, not can I do a proper speed test with speedtest.net.

This is Day #26!!!

Today is Day#28 and still no resolution from Vodacom.

One of their technicians has been in touch with me, but it seems that they are stumped!! :wtf:

Speeds picked up a liiiitle bit over the weekend for me too. Then last night it was flying. Today it is back to crawling with disconnects and DNS time outs. ISP's and infrastructure are a joke in this country.
