Vumatel took about a month and a half to do our entire neighbourhood.

As soon as it was done, we were live and Vox was there the next day. I also pre-ordered so was pretty high up on the list.

I don't download a lot, but we stream a huge amount. 4K NETFLIX stream, and 2 1080p streams usually daily.

Lots of Youtube from the kids. PS4 game downloads. Spotify etc. etc.

We really use it, and I've never been throttled. When I occasionally do P2P, it flies ( depending on seeders obviously )

My son plays a lot of online games too and the pings are great.

Usage as of now for this month so far.

Hi All - has anyone else had issues when pre-applying for fibre, I moved out of the premises then fibre came to my old area a year later after i had moved out for 6 months. I am now being charged for it and being told to pay a cancellation fee - anything I can do? Want to take out a full page ad on my broadband like the cell c guy did

Details below:
Vox telecom SCAM, DO NOT pre-apply for Fibre with VOX

In April 2018 a Vox Salesperson, Brendon Peterson, came to my residence in Milnerton saying fibre was coming to the area, I need to pre-apply for fibre and would be first in line when it came.
In Oct 2018 I moved out of those premises.
In April the next year (2019) they phoned me saying fibre is now available in the area. I told them I no longer live there anymore but gave them the tenants details to see if they perhaps wanted fibre, they could contact them directly

In May I started getting invoices for the service. I told the accounts team I did not sign up or start the service, I haven’t even lived there for 6 months and they are to credit the invoice. I continued to get the invoices the following months. I sent multiple messages to the sales person Brendon saying that the invoices must be credited, he kept saying he would get back to me but never did.

Trying to be understanding I said there is a new tenant in the house and I will ask them if they would like to use VOX, I also said I am actually just about to move houses and they can also supply fibre to my new premises, but they must cancel the old invoices as I never agreed to go ahead with the service and no longer even live in that old premises.
They were completely unwilling to budge, so instead of making 2 sales, they now have none, and a bill of 3 months that I will never be paying.

I have now spoken to Sean Smith the Sales Director and Luzanne the Vox Product Manager who say I am responsible for my old contract and am responsible for a cancellation fee as well. How is it possible to start billing someone a year after they have pre-applied for fibre, and 6 months after they no longer even live in that premises and gave no confirmation to go ahead with the service and have never even used the service.

Lets see how the Consumer Protection Act destroys these terrible business practices

Wanting to sign up. But not sure if i should. Having issues with VOX, apparently a certified ID copy done by an Attorney commissioner of oath is not the same as going to a police station getting it certified. Is there a difference ? or VOX operating their business above the LAW ?

Guys did anyone on Vuma experience issues last night? Download speeds suddenly dropped to less than 1mbps, but upload was still upwards of 50

Everything was fine this morning, I'm just curious as to what went wrong

What area? Vuma had a fibre break in Parkhurst area, and was doing maintenance on certain suburbs/area (ongoing over the rest of this month). Not sure if VOX has some sort of network status page.

In Bryanston near the country club

On Sunday evening something happened with the physical link, there was Fx but no connectivity (no IP address assigned etc) the Vuma techs came out, disappeared for 45 minutes came back to fetch their equipment and it was working again until last night (fine now however)

I just found it very strange that the download speeds were almost zero, whilst upload remained unaffected

Hi guys, been on vox 20m down / 2 m up 300 gb fatpipe and been decent since the switch from cisp. Can't speak for the uncapped packages cause never been a fan of it.

Hi Segg, i had a simelar issue well my first not that bad issue since my move to vox. Saturday evening 7 pm realised my speed was only 2mb up and 2 mb download. Slow speed was there till midnight. Then internet went off complete and came back up at 12:30 am sunday morning. Full speed was restored at 1am Sunday morning. Vox didn't have issues they said.

Checked and seems to be NLD maintenance not sure what it's for and who was doing it but apparently was scheduled for midnight Saturday for 8 hours. All good from my side at the moment. I'm on frogfoot fyi.

Why is Vox seemingly one of the only ISPs that doesn't offer a 200/200 package on Octotel? It's been like this forever and I cannot understand why.

Why has my ping jumped up 60ms on PUBG? Went from 155ms to 215ms and been like this since Saturday (maybe in the week already, but not sure). This is worse than my ADSL line was which was around 178ms.

I'm having the same problem granted I'm on VDSL and if I connect to a different ISP my ping is normal.

Best thing you can do is a trace route to the destination IP and paste it here, maybe someone can give you an answer, the increase in ping is most likely due to a routing issue. Also send off the trace route to Vox and include another ISP's trace route as well to show them the issue lies with them so they can't blame Telkom xD

Same here, but I believe it's a Frogfoot routing change here while their direct link is down.

My ping on game servers has been abnormally high lately on Vox/Vumatel from Durban, I normally get around 170ms to this server.

That would be be because you routing via NYC to London look at hop 10 and 11 "nyc01" and then 16 is "lon02"
