The proponents of enslavement have explained what this site is really about. And it has nothing to do with enabling any freedom of choice but everything to do with restrictions that enable profiteering by restriction of choice. And every negative farmhouse noise is bought and paid for, as is to be expected in the land of corruption.

You are lucky. The shops notification arrived a month after it was cut. For 6 weeks Telkom swore blind that there was a working telephone service but refused to test the line

The service stopped on 28th January and Telkom sent a final bill on 19th May. This included line rental for 4 months but no calls and no DSL. The reason given was that I did not confirm that the line was not required. The previous 15-20 calls between Jan and May were not forwarded to the correct dept. They shifted the blame onto me
 
Any actual consideration of the impact of the canceling of the majority of Telkom accounts should be posted in the annals of the ever expanding mybroadband toilet. This is no place for any form of reality. Goddam society of bought and paid for dick heads beyond redemption.
 
So Telkom plonks a small virtually unnoticeable statement of evil intent in its August invoices which simply tells their victim account holders that they are going to have their accounts cancelled, deleted, rendered eradicated from 1st September. Done, and no more anything ever. Just like that. And this pathetic self righteous fake entity of uselessness has NOTHING TO SAY?

There has been a lot in Mybroadband news, and in Mybroadband Forums, over the past year or longer, about Telkom ending its copper-based phone and ADSL lines, and alternatives that you can change to. Everyone I know, including myself, found the end of copper-based communication stressful, but have found good alternatives that they have settled into. See for example (apologies for any repetitions):

Seems pretty clear, and very reasonable, to me. Free instillation, free router, higher speeds available, and lower costs.

Why wouldn't you want to switch to fibre?

I have the same statement on my invoice. We have fibre in our estate however it is with Vodacom. Would telkom be stopping my service then as well? Looking on telkom's coverage map, my area doesn't have fibre. I should be fine then I assume?
