I would like to transfer my 8mb ADSL line from Telkom to Web Africa and I would like the transfer to take place from the end of this month (May).
How do I go about initiating the transfer? Should I first contact Telkom and then Web Africa or both at the same time?
Note: I am an internet...
Anyone with a ADSL background and or Telkom work experience that can give advice?
After the recent thunderstorm in Cape Town, I suspect our Telephone lines took a direct hit. Intermittent DSL syncing, very slow speeds, then very fast speeds then no connection, then slow connection. The...
Hi guys,
Are there any difference between ADSL or VDSL routers? I've ordered a 20mbps VDSL line on a month to month basis, so I need to buy a router myself.
If there is an older thread pertaining to the above, please drop a link. I could however not find anything.
As the title suggests...
ISP's that are out in my opinion
Afrihost- Been with them for years; no complaints until I started running part of my business from home and I had to use a VPN provider for security reasons. I have zero issues 20 hours a day but between 18:00 and 23:00 give or...
I want to buy a router which is compatible for Fibre and ADSL connection.
What should I look for?
How can I check if a router is compatible with Fibre connection?
Do you have any suggestions, such as the one you are currently using (including the price) ?
Do all AC routers support fibre?
Hi there - my line has been down since 14 March - now 3 weeks exactly. Fault reference 15BRK140317
Apparently, this was due to cable theft and is now a 'bulk fault'. Is anyone else having problems - can't seem to get any progress reports/updates.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
When using 100GB a day is child’s play
Afrihost’s uncapped ADSL leaderboard for the past month shows that its top users consume massive amounts of data.
I have recently moved into a new house and every time the phone rings or someone dials out on the phone this distrupts the adsl connection. It's so frustrating as I can be in the middle of work and suddenly no longer able to connect for however long my wife or daughter happen to be on the phone...

Hi guys
I noticed an emoji in an SSID when I was trying to connect to a public network while on the move, which made me want to try out a few things.
I did some research into it, and multiple websites on google say that this possible using the unicode 8 charectors available on wikipaedia...
Hello!
I am currently using Afrihost Mobile Data (8gigs for around R300 a month). I'm looking to switch to ADSL/DSL option with more data but have been out of that game so long.
Who offers the best package for a similar amount of data (or more) and cost?
And how horrible is it to go...
I ran ping plotter and the 2nd hop which is the isp router is ALWAYS above 10% packet loss, not what it used to be months ago.. and ISP says my line is perfect... so is this normal for an ADSL internet of 4MBits/s speed?
I've bought this subscription for over a year now and worked wonderfully for the first 4-5 months, but then everything went down hill overnight
webpages are too slow, I should be getting 4MBits/s but I only get less than 0.7MBits/s
the only thing working fine is torrent, and when I open...
I've had this 4MB ADSL subscription for over a year now, since january 2016, and it was super good for the first 6 months, everything working at full 4MB speed, 70ms-90ms latency in games. but until june things started getting bad, some websites like facebook started to slow down, videos wont...
I have used Telkom as my ISP for 5 years and have been happy with the service. Faults have been sorted quickly, no billing issues, up time has been good. Only annoyance is occasional network congestion during peak times (early evening).
It's time to upgrade and Telkom's 40Gb / 4Mbps offering...
