MTN SuperSonic Feedback

think its more to do with the bean-counters at mtn saying no, you can't upgrade ipc now.

Probably. Someone is saying no don't upgrade now. WHen latency on ipc reaches x or when you receive x amount of complaints upgrade. They are actively denying IPC congestion and say my line is faulty but I KNOW it's not the line or Openserve as they are the ONLY one of my 5 accounts that is slow. SO it must be the IPC or the router just after the IPC handover but it's congestion no doubt in my mind.

It's fine I'm switching over to Macrolan on the 25. I'm trying to get Supersonic to take some responsibility and meet me half way on the massive claw back fee because at the end of the day they are in the wrong and more than a month struggling with poor speeds but still billed full price.

good luck, i'm trying afrihost next month.

Yeah might need it but they are R1030 cheaper than CISP on 200Mbps and about R400 cheaper than Supersonic on 200Mbps.

I am wiling to try 3 ISP's after Macrolan if it does not work out after that I'm moving to a line only ISP and then buying capped data accounts.

List I want to try if it does not work out is

1. Macrolan
2. BeBroadband
3. UniWisp
4. Nexus-Net
5. BitCo
6. Active Fibre

if that fails Capped data with 200Mbps line and if that does not work I will look at downgrading to 100Mbps but that is a LAST resort.

It's worse on Telkom because they have to pay for IPC just like the rest hence the FUP on Telkom ISP.

The IPC issues are real for ISPs on Openserve but that is why I went with Supersonic because they have lots of $$$ because it's the MTN Business network so they supply business fibre over Openserve on the MTN Business side but for them to fix it they first need to acknowledge the issue which seems to be the hard part.

I've sent them all the info required but seems they are in denial about the IPC issues so I'm looking to save some money and just move to another cheaper ISP so when IPC congestion happens I have my backup adsl account with Vox as a backup. It's 400GB for R179 which is very affordable so that is nice to keep as a backup. Paying R1749 for Supersonic where peak speeds go down to 16Mbps is disappointing and even a capped account might even be better for me.

When the IPC is not an issue with Supersonic their network is really enjoyable and very few can beat them. They don't have transit issues their only issue on Openserve is IPC.
Would've thought since Telkom and Openserve are (or at least I thought they were) pretty much the same thing they'd have a bit of leeway/discount with IPConnect

not after the competition commission had their way after isps complained, they had to split.

It just gets better..... Supersonic has logged a line fault with Openserve despite me providing them with comparative trace routes and speedtests from 5 other ISP's that it's not a line issue....

lol

IPC is behaving tonight. Guess people are at the braai not on facebook. Tomorrow will be telling. Speeds are still around 120Mbps max

fingers crossed

It's a done deal for me unfortunately. Paid them the money they wanted. Filled in the forms and sent them through to Macrolan so I'm moving.

fingers crossed

Well something changed it seems... IPC is 4ms not higher. Speeds are maxing 24/7. They definitely did something but I will keep checking as Sundays are usually the worst of the week especially from 3pm to 9pm then it was the worst.

No doubt in my mind they got IPC upgrades.... Trying to fool me. Upgraded last night or early morning today. Constant low latency and full speeds. @Veck

They didnt want to admit to you that they were the ones at fault and blaming the FNO, smh. At least its seems to be sorted now. Lest see how long it lasts xD

Nope never mind all the posts the congestion is still there. Started slowing down and increased latency :(

If Openserve is having IPC problems surely it should effect all FISP that are hooked up to Openserve. Or not?

Exactly. If it was an Openserve issue all ISP's will have issues but switched to Webafrica capped account and full speed.

So here is the difference

Webafrica

Supersonic

Doesn't look bad but it really struggled to get to 124

Telkom 4G+ on my phone gives me better speeds than Supersonic......

Ok I got it laud and clear it is a MTN issue. They are throttling you at times to prevent you from getting the full spectrum what you paid for. So MTN is having issues on there network.

I don't think it's a throttling issue. Throttling doesn't usually affect the latency just the speed.
